Great news from the East sector: planning approvals totalled £3.4bn in the last quarter, a 119% increase on the preceding three months and a 57% increase on the previous year. Projects like the Segro Logistics Park in the East Midlands town have helped the sector boom as the local economy continues to grow.

In what could prove to be a huge development for the UK's logistics industry, Fleete, has opened the UK’s largest eHGV commercial EV charging hub at the Port of Tilbury. The 5 megawatt shared facility has 16 ultra-rapid chargers, enabling up to 16 fully electric HGVs to charge simultaneously. At present, there are only around 1,000 electric HGVs on the UK's roads out of a of over 600,000, but could this kickstart the electric truck revolution?

As we approach the end of 2025, I just wanted to say a massive thank you and Happy Christmas to all our loyal customers and my amazing team. 2025 has been another great year for us, despite one or two tricky moments (!) and we're planning big things for 2026. There are worrying signs that the 5p fuel duty cut will come to an end in next month's . Fuel duty receipts have fallen from 7% of the UK’s tax take in 2019/2020 to 2% in 2025 owing to falling prices and the rise of . The duty cut was introduced in 2022 when diesel prices peaked at 199p. Fuel volatility and wafer-thin margins are cited as the two biggest reasons behind the spate of haulage firm closures - there were 7 in September alone. Can the industry absorb such a rise, or should there be an exemption for this embattled sector?

Shocking new figures reveal a massive rise in thefts from trucks. Girteka from the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) recorded that cargo losses in the EU totalled £400 million in 2024: a 438% jump compared to 2023 and more than ten times higher than in 2021. A European Parliament study has estimated that cargo crime costs businesses over £7.14 billion annually across the continent. With organised gangs being behind much of this increase, is there anything that can be done to stop this problem?
