The Bank Of England Held Rates As Predicted 🏡

So what now?

I wish we had one of these.

Lenders have been decreasing rates in anticipation of this however Oil Prices, supply and Demand and Inflation will all be a factor in what actually happens to Mortgage Rates moving forward.

Anyone that tells you they know what’s coming it’s simply not true.

My advice…make decisions based on what’s going to allow you to sleep at night.

Because it’s impossible to time the market 💜

NatWest, TSB, Accord and HSBC are cutting mortgage rates tomorrow.

The Bank of England also sit tomorrow. Same day. And I think this tells us something really interesting.

These lenders have made this decision before the Bank of England have even voted. Which means they're not waiting for the result they're already confident enough in where the markets are heading to start dropping their rates now.

This is actually a really positive sign. Because what it tells us is that the pressure that's been building in the mortgage market since the Iran conflict started is beginning to ease.

The markets are settling. And when the markets settle, lenders compete. And when lenders compete, rates come down.

So here's what I want people to think about right now.

If you're sitting on your lender's standard variable rate you are paying more than you need to.

The average two year fix is around 5.4% and with lenders actively cutting this week there are deals below that.

Every month you stay on an SVR is money you're handing back to your lender unnecessarily.

If your in the process of buying then this week is actually encouraging. Rates are still elevated but the direction of travel is down.
