Wow, what an incredible year it's been! I've spent a year working full time for myself, and it's been quite the journey.
Running your own business can be extremely challenging, with many moments of self-doubt about whether it's the right path or if I should just return to employment.
However, I did set myself a turnover goal to achieve within the year, and today, when I ran my annual projection, I've reached that target! Woohoo!
These moment’s definitely make working for myself worth while. Im so excited to achieve many more goals and can’t wait to see what the next 12 months will bring! 💪 👩💻
Today is my final day in employment and I’m feeling very emotional 🥹 having been in various employed accountancy roles over the last 15 years.
In July 2022, the company I had worked for, for the last 5 years, was sold and I was told there would be no position for me going forward - I would be made redundant on the 31st October 2022.
I cried, I was devastated!
I loved the feeling of job security and knowing I would get an £X amount of pay at the end of every month. The last 5 years of effort and work, which I put into the company, all coming to an end, and no longer getting to work with my lovely colleagues. I felt really gutted.
On a brighter note, I had already started putting plans into place to run my own accountancy practice along side my full time role, but was no where near ready to be self employed full time..
I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and this has given me the push and chance I need to give my own business a proper go!
Today is the end of an era. ✅
Tomorrow, I am officially self employed and will be working for my own accountancy practice full time. A new exciting venture!! Let's go!! 💪
