🏡 Stamp Duty Changes Coming in April 2025! 📢

The government has announced changes to Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT), which could impact homebuyers and investors. Here’s what you need to know:

💷 What is Stamp Duty?

It’s a tax paid by buyers when purchasing property or land over a certain price.

📅 What’s Changing?

From 1st April 2025:

The nil rate threshold for standard purchases drops from £250,000 to £125,000.

First-time buyers’ relief thresholds will decrease:

No tax on properties up to £300,000 (currently £425,000).

Reduced rates only apply to properties up to £500,000 (currently £625,000).

Higher rates for additional properties will also apply, starting at 5% from £125,000 (currently £250,000).

📊 Example Impact

A first-time buyer purchasing a £400,000 home will pay £5,000 in SDLT from 2025, compared to £0 under current rules.

✨ How Will This Affect You?

These changes could mean higher upfront costs for many buyers, especially first-time buyers and those purchasing additional properties.
