How much can we borrow on a mortgage?
This is probably the most frequently asked question clients put to us. The usual response is that borrowing is limited to about 5 times income on a good day.
However, for TEACHERS, that is now up to 7 (SEVEN) times income. That can also be applied to a teacher and a partner who is not a teacher. So a joint income with a non-teacher can also get seven times income.
This also applies to first time buyer teachers.
All this depends on standard affordability criteria (commitments, dependents etc), but this could be a game changer for a lot of people wanting to get on the housing ladder in expensive regions, including London.
