Yesterday the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, made her Autumn Budget speech.

Measures announced include a number of changes that employers should know, and may need to take action on:

The minimum wage for over 21s will rise by 6.7%, from £11.44 to £12.21 from 6‌‌‌ April‌‌‌ 2025.

The rate of employer NICs will increase from 13.8% to 15%.

The government will reduce the Secondary Threshold (the point at which employers become liable to pay NICs on employees’ earnings) from £9,100 to £5,000 a year from 6‌‌‌ April 2025 until 6‌‌‌ April‌‌‌ 2028, and then increase it by Consumer Price Inflation thereafter.

The Employment Allowance will increase from £5,000 to £10,500, and the £100,000 threshold for eligibility will be removed.
