Bank of England hold base rate at 4%. The nine members of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee voted 5-4 in favour of leaving borrowing costs unchanged.

The BoE Governor Andrew Bailey said 'We held interest rates at 4% today. We still think rates are on a gradual path downwards but we need to be sure that inflation is on track to return to our 2% target before we can cut them again,'

The Bank of England meets today to decide on the base rate. Markets are still split on whether the bank will hold steady or make a move to reduce.

Great news

Today the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee announced a 0.25% decrease to the base rate. The Bank of England Base Rate now stands at 4.00%. This is the lowest level since March 2023. Good news again.

Hopefully we'll see this reflected across mortgage rates in the coming weeks.
