Hello, I wanted to reach out again as the Local Policing Inspector for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover. Since my last update we have successfully implemented the safer neighbourhood team uplift across the area that has brought an additional sergeant and additional police constables to the existing team.

There are 17 distinct beat areas across North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, and this uplift has allowed me to create three teams to create a better focus on tackling local issues whilst also being able to work as a collective when required. These are:

Dronfield, Killamarsh & Clowne SNT under Sergeant Molloy
Bolsover & Shirebrook SNT under Sergeant Whyte
Clay Cross SNT under Sergeant Jones

The local priorities for all of the beat areas have just been updated which can all be reviewed at:

North East | Derbyshire Constabulary- North East | Derbyshire Constabulary

If you want to assist with how these are selected in the next cycle, review our work towards these priorities, or just want to give feedback around the area you live or work in, then please look to attend a local community catchup event or by completing the Community Voice survey at the below link:

Community Voice – Derbyshire Alert- Community Voice - Derbyshire Alert

Your feedback is invaluable and plays a key role in informing and renewing our neighbourhood policing priorities.

As we now enter the Summer months, I will ensure your local officers are as visible and accessible as they can be in the community. The team as a whole has completed 750 local engagements in 2026 so far, and I want nothing less than the team being the most accessible and visible safer neighbourhood team in the county.

I hope you all have a great Summer, and I look forward to feeding back some of the great proactive work we are completing currently in my next report to you.

Yesterday, Saturday 6th June was the National Day of Action for E-Scooters.

SNT officers were cracking down on electric scooters across North East Derbyshire, enforcing against illegal and dangerous users, creating safer streets for everyone.

E-Scooters are becoming a fast-growing way of people travelling around, but when they are used illegally and irresponsibly, they pose a real danger to those riding them and pedestrians and drivers. And unfortunately, we are seeing more collisions, more injuries and more lives being put at risk by electric scooters.

What is the law?

Electric scooters are classed as powered transporters and fall within the definition of a motor vehicle under the Road Traffic Act 1998. This means that the same rules apply to electric scooters that apply to other vehicles, including licensing, insurance, MOT and tax.

🚔 A Busy Month for Your Local SNT! 🚔

Over the past month, your local Safer Neighbourhood Team has been out and about across the area, engaging with residents, community groups and young people.

We were pleased to attend community events at St Lawrence Church, North Wingfield and North Wingfield Resource Centre, where we had the opportunity to speak with local residents, listen to concerns and discuss issues affecting the community.
Our officers also visited a nursery in Stretton, where the children enjoyed meeting the team and taking a closer look at a police vehicle – always a popular visit!
We attended community catch-up sessions at Shirland Village Hall and Nibbles, Needles and Hooks in Lower Pilsley, providing an opportunity for residents to raise local concerns and receive crime prevention advice.
As part of Operation Sceptre, our officers delivered knife crime awareness talks at local schools, helping educate young people about the dangers and consequences of carrying knives.
We also joined residents at the Coffee Morning at Pilsley Village Hall and the Warm Spaces event at Mickley Village Hub, where we enjoyed meeting members of the community and offering support and advice.
Finally, we were delighted to attend the Shirland Scarecrow Festival, supporting a fantastic community event and speaking with many local residents throughout the day.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to speak with us this month. We remain committed to working alongside our communities and look forward to seeing you at future events 👮🚓

Hello all,

The work done by Derbyshire Constabulary together with local agencies and services to tackle knife crime is being showcased this week as part of a national week of action.

Op Sceptre is run by the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), and is a chance for teams to speak to local communities, deepen their ongoing conversations about knife crime and remind people of the work we’re doing day-to-day to keep knife crime out of the county. Over the course of the week, you'll see officers all over the county taking part in a range of operations and activity. This includes visiting schools and delivering inputs to both late-primary and secondary students, as well as hosting pop-up stalls in colleges across the county.

There will also be knife sweeps conducted, where officers scan parks and recreational spaces for weapons, sometimes with the help of a metal detectors. As well as this, our Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be around hosting a number of events in your local communities, where you can speak to them and find out more.

On our social media channels, you will see content which we’ve collaborated on with our partners at Chesterfield Football Club and Street Doctors – sharing their real life experiences and advice when it comes to the realities of knife crime and creating a sense of belonging for young people.

Amnesty bins, a key feature of Op Sceptre, will also be placed at locations across the county to allow people to hand in their unwanted knives. You can find the locations of these on our website.

As well as this highly visible work, teams will also continue to gather intelligence and target offenders behind-the-scenes, as well as prevent incidents from happening.

Superintendent Lyndsey Curtis, from Derbyshire Constabulary, said: “Whilst thankfully it is only the minority of people that feel it is acceptable to carry a knife, this week is an important opportunity to highlight the year-round prevention work we are doing to keep it this way.

“We are all too aware of the tragic consequences of carrying a knife and the devastating ripple effect that this can have across our communities, and will not stop our work to combat this. A big part of this week is dispelling myths as well. For example, we know that those who carry a knife are more likely to be victims themselves, and rather than keeping them safe, carrying a knife actually puts them in greater danger. Involvement in knife crime often forms part of wider criminality too, so it is crucial that we put preventative measures in place as early as possible.

“We also work very closely with our partner agencies who can advise and encourage young people to think about their behaviours and signpost them to organisations who can educate them and offer a diversion from crime. Not only will officers be working in a visible way, but they will continue to work behind the scenes, too, gathering intelligence and targeting offenders, as well as preventing incidents from happening.”

We have received reports of rogue door to door salesmen in Derbyshire who sell cleaning goods, repair work, or garden improvements, but then vastly overcharge.

They are particularly targeting elderly and vulnerable people .

If you have any older family members, friends or neighbours please check in with them to make them aware of the scam.

Our advice is do not open the door to or engage with anyone trying to sell goods, or to anyone you don’t know or are not expecting.

We are asking you to share this message far and wide, and if you see any suspicious activity to please report it to us.

If there is anything you wish to report, you can do so using the following methods:

We all know that parking at our schools can get busy and often stressful, everyone fighting for spaces directly outside school to minimise how far they have to walk to pick up their siblings.

We have had several reports at Stonebroom Primary school that vehicles have been parked inconsiderately, often double parking and blocking pavements.
You may have noticed an increased presence by your Safer Neighbourhood Team to tackle this directly, engaging with drivers and where necessary, issuing parking tickets.

We ask that if you do drive to pick up your children, then please consider others, especially local residents and keeping footpaths clear so that parents and children can cross safely.

Here are a few rules regarding this…

Do Not
❙ Stop or park near a school entrance and keep off school keep clear markings
❙ Double park to pick up or drop off children from vehicles.
❙ Park in such a position that buses, the emergency services and other commercial vehicles are unable to pass.
❙ Block the pavement - allow at least a ‘double buggy’ width for people to use it safely.
❙ Park where a bus stop is clearly defined either by road markings or an actual shelter. Do
❙ Observe in force parking restrictions that may apply.
❙ Consider parking further away from the school.
❙ Consider local residents and whether they have immediate access onto and off their driveway.
❙ Remember that buses are there to provide a public service and inconsiderate parking can give rise to unnecessary delays.
❙ Consider people who are blind, partially sighted, elderly, infirm, mobility scooters, wheelchair users, adults with prams - they shouldn’t need to step into the road because you’ve parked selfishly.

Please do not park in a way that causes an obstruction to other road users
