Did you know that lenders don’t just give you a mortgage based on “x times” your annual pre-tax salary?

There’s a lot of different criteria that comes with borrowing money to buy your new home, such as general affordability.

In 2020 the average UK salary was £30,420, so if there was 2 of you earning that amount (pre-tax) you could be able to borrow £152,100 - £213,000.

Of course these numbers are just hypothetical and what you can borrow differs from lender to lender, for a more accurate representation of what you could borrow, give me a call on 07817 492 010.

Did you know that MPs are debating the possibility of extending the Stamp Duty holiday? It was introduced to England and Northern Ireland in July 2020.

The threshold for paying the tax was extended to £500,000 and is due to end on the 31st March 2021.

Are you thinking about buying a property?

Did you know that you should have an agreement in principle in place before making an offer, to show you can proceed? If you didn’t, you might be thinking “what is an agreement in principle?”.

Simply put, it’s a written confirmation from a mortgage lender that details how much money they are in principle, willing to lend you, based on the information you’ve supplied. Showing an agreement in principle to the estate agent demonstrates that you’re serious about buying and can (in theory) get the required mortgage.

It’s a good idea to have an agreement in principle (sometimes known as a mortgage in principle) before setting your heart on a particular property. A good mortgage adviser will help you work out all your finances so that you know before you start looking, what house value is within reach.
