We're often asked what the first £2 is for - so let us explain.

At Cheshire Community Bank, your first £2 isn’t a joining fee and it doesn’t disappear. It remains yours as your membership share—making you a member and part-owner of our community bank.

Being member-owned means our members are at the heart of what we do.

We don’t exist to generate profits for external shareholders. We exist to help people across Cheshire and Flintshire save, access affordable loans and feel more confident about their financial future.

Every new member makes our community stronger—because when local people save with us, that money can help us support other people locally.

It may only be £2, but it means becoming part of something much bigger.

That’s community banking.

Do you worry about what will happen if you contact Stop Loan Sharks?

Maybe you think we'll immediately turn up, arrest the lender, and ask for all your details. The truth is very different.

When someone gets in touch, our priority is making sure they're safe and supported. There's no pressure to report a lender, and everything happens at a pace you're comfortable with. We're here to listen, offer advice, and help you understand your options.

If reporting a loan shark is something you decide you want to do, we'll support you every step of the way. But that choice is always yours.
