A little (re)intro to the face behind the biz; I’m Emily, Founder of The Mortgage Stuff. ☺️👋🏼

I’ve been giving mortgage advice for over ten years now, so it only felt right to begin my own venture within the financial industry space, because for too long this space has been dominated by complete dullness! It has a history of being heavily corporate, male influenced and over complicated.

So here I am, doing my best to freshen things up. Because a female touch is necessary, even in the world of finance.

Welcome, The Mortgage Stuff. A place where you can seek mortgage advice without the faff and where financial conversations are not just accessible, but enjoyable.

1) IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT SCORE
2) PUT DOWN A LARGER DEPOSIT
3) HAVE A CONSISTENT EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
4) REDUCE YOUR UNSECURED DEBT
5) GET YOUR DOCS ORGANISED

These small thigs can help you present yourself as a strong candidate to lenders.

SO I DID A THING..

Just little me being interviewed by PHIL SPENCER?!

I have spent YEARS watching Phil + Kirsty on TV so I may have squealed a little when I was asked to join him on the podcast he hosts. This is something that is COMPLETLEY out of my comfort zone but there was no chance of me letting this opportunity slip by out of fear! And best believe I got a selfie too, there was zeroooo shame with this fan girling.

We covered the topic of Limited Company Buy to Lets and how brokers should be approaching conversations with landlords. It can be a complicated part of the market so I’m super proud to have shared some views without saying ‘Um’ every 2 minutes (IYKYK).

Anyway, another thing to nudge me out of my comfort zone and to add to personal achievements, what’s next?

like sorry.. what?! where on earth has the time gone?

this has snuck upon me to be honest, and maybe bigger celebrations should’ve been in order, but a last minute solo spa day will do the trick.

Here’s to all the woman bossing it in any male dominated industry 👏🏼

It was only recently I was sharing stories with friends about times I’ve been underestimated, misunderstood + disrespected as a young female in finance.

Granted, this happens less as I approach thirty (𝘦𝘸), but I’ve been doing this job since I was twenty (𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘸), and boyyyy have I had some experiences.

& I know that so many others will relate to this.

So this is a big f**k you to anyone that underestimates us females + a big round of applause to those who have killed it with grace.

Ok so maybe not the ‘𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘦’ valentines post I promised..

[𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 – 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘔𝘌]

Buying a house with someone is a HUGE commitment and one that’s often underestimated. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦, as I like to call it.

So if things don’t quite go to plan and you find yourself in this sticky situation.. first of all, 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗞 𝗨𝗣 - how boring would life be if everything went to plan?! Better things are coming. Secondly, 𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗪 𝗨𝗣.
& finally, use these pointers to help 𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗚𝗔𝗚𝗘.

Mortgages aren’t the easiest of things to sort out after a break up, so if you need some guidance – you know where I am!

Andddd… 𝗪𝗘’𝗥𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘!

So so sooo happy to finally launch the website, it’s been a long time coming!

This is such a biggie for me as it allows me to take steps in growing the business, something I’ve purposely held off on until now with the fear of not looking like a professional.

It would be great to get as many people to see this as possible so I’d be 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 grateful if friends/clients/followers could share this post [𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘵].

𝘈 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘺, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥’𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘸𝘢𝘺…

I just wanted to send out a genuine 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 to those that supported me and this new business venture throughout 2021.
From those that chose me as their broker, to those that share/comment/like posts & then all those in between.

Starting a business is tricky, so mistakes have been made and I’m sure there will be more to come, but I’m only human and that’s ok! I’ve spent a few days planning out the year ahead so with a solid plan and a lot of hard work, I hope for it to be a successful one!
