St Mary's Walks

St Mary's Walks Explore some of the beautiful coast & countryside in the South West. Healthy walks and great company. Saturday walks start in February and end in October.

We are a welcoming Chard based walking group founded in 1975. You would be very welcome to join us exploring some of the beautiful coast and countryside the South West has to offer. We usually walk on the last Saturday of the month, with some allowance for Bank holiday weekends. Coaches leave Crowshute Link carpark at 9am on a Saturday morning. You can choose between a gentle short walk of around

4 miles or a ramble of 7-9 miles

Local Monday evening walks start on the first Monday in April
and end with an end of season social evening on the last Monday in August. At other times of the year we have social events. Questions? Contact Hilary on 07941 631839 or email [email protected]

This week's 5.5 walk led by Hilary with the help of Val & Keda on the recce was from Crewkerne & heading out towards Hinton St George through Mancombe woods (Woodland Trust) . We managed to escape the worst of the rain with the black clouds mainly staying out of our way. Again lovely views & cute farm animals.

Another stunning walk from Chardstock, thank you to Margaret who led 21 walkers on a 4.4 mile route. The Bluebells best viewed in person as the photos never do them justice.

Today we completed the first of the two walks we have planned for the Countryfile Ramble for Children in Need. Thank you for all the support we received today. Eighteen hardy soles and two dogs set out from the Guild Hall on this glorious warm and sunny Sunday. The route was 4 miles along the footpaths and lanes on Snowdon Hill. It was a bit tricky underfoot in places, A great afternoons walking spent in pleasant company. We will be walking again next Saturday 14th. The 12.5 mile route is split into 3 sections. Join us for some or all of the walk. So far we have raised £79.50
