FISHERY UPDATE – WEEKLY NEWS

The warmer temperatures forecast for this week look set to really kick the lakes into life, and the signs are already there for all to see. Fish have been showing on the surface across the fishery, making the most of the recent conditions and giving anglers plenty of clues as to their whereabouts. Following a hard spawning period, the carp have been seen clouding up areas and actively feeding on the abundance of natural larders available throughout the lakes. As they recover and begin to feed more consistently, we're expecting the action to really step up over the coming days. Historically, this is one of the best times of the year for multiple captures, with groups of fish often feeding hard together once they switch back on after spawning. Anglers who can locate these feeding areas, stay mobile, and present baits accurately stand a great chance of putting together a big hit of fish. With settled, warm weather on the way and fish already showing plenty of signs of activity, all the ingredients are there for an excellent week ahead at Clearwater Fisheries.

Penners Pool has been in exceptional form this week, producing some incredible action and proving once again why it's such a consistent runs water. Leading the way were David Saggerson and Kevin Greenough, who enjoyed a phenomenal 48-hour session, banking a staggering 21 carp between them. Their haul included a number of quality mid-doubles, with the biggest fish weighing in at 18lb. Consistent feeding and accurate presentation kept the bites coming throughout their stay, resulting in one of the most productive sessions we've seen on the lake this year. The action didn't stop there, with the lake continuing its rich vein of form into the weekend. Regular angler Byron Talbot enjoyed another successful visit, landing 6 carp during a 24-hour session and further highlighting just how well the lake is fishing at the moment. If current conditions continue, we'd expect plenty more red-letter sessions over the coming weeks.

Kendal Lake, the newest addition to the Clearwater complex, has hit top form this week and produced one of the most memorable sessions we've seen in a long time. Youngsters Max and Leighton, joined by dad Phill, enjoyed an absolutely incredible weekend from pegs 1, 2 and 3, banking over 30 carp between them. The action was so relentless at times that the lads could barely keep their rods in the water, with multiple double and even triple takes keeping them constantly on the move. Among the haul were a number of stunning carp, including a beautiful mirror weighing 29lb, along with plenty of other quality fish. The trio kept the fish feeding confidently by introducing plenty of bait, regularly topping up with 3-5 Spombs of boilie and corn after every bite. Their simple approach of fishing spinner rigs with bright yellow wafters over the top proved devastatingly effective. The session was a perfect example of what Kendal Lake is capable of when the fish get on the feed. With the carp now recovering well after spawning and warmer weather settling in, the lake is looking better than ever and is producing some truly exceptional sport.

FISHERY UPDATE – WEEKLY NEWS

The hot, sunny weather that dominated the last few weeks has finally disappeared, and with spawning activity now completed across all of our lakes, the fish have switched into their annual post-spawn feeding mode. As expected, catches have increased dramatically, with plenty of fish being landed across the fishery, including several cracking 30lb-plus carp hitting the bank. The fish are clearly looking to replace the energy lost during spawning, and anglers who have stayed on the bait have been rewarded with some excellent action. Looking ahead, the forecast is showing warm temperatures combined with wind and rain – conditions that have historically produced some of the best fishing of the year here at Clearwater Fisheries. If the weather arrives as predicted, we expect the carp to go on an absolute feeding frenzy over the coming weeks. If you're planning a session, make sure you stock up on plenty of our fishery spod mix. Keeping bait going in has been the key to maintaining action and converting passing fish into multiple bites. With the fish feeding hard and conditions looking spot on, now is a great time to get on the bank.

Penners Pool has been absolutely on fire recently, with plenty of action for anglers making the most of the post-spawn feeding spell.
Jamie and Kayleigh continued their impressive run of form with another fantastic session, banking an incredible 10 fish between them. Their catch included a couple of cracking 20lb-plus carp, capping off yet another memorable trip to the pool. The Cowling family also enjoyed a successful weekend on the bank, landing four fish between them. While none quite broke the 20lb barrier, all four were quality high-double-figure carp that kept the rods bending and smiles on faces throughout their session. With the fish feeding hard and conditions looking ideal over the coming week, Penners Pool is showing exactly why it's become such a popular venue for anglers looking for consistent action and quality carp.

Kellet, Kents Bank and Kendal Lakes have all continued their excellent run of form this week, with anglers enjoying consistent action as the carp continue their post-spawn feeding spell. Kendal Lake has been particularly productive, with Andy White making the most of a red-letter weekend. Andy racked up an impressive eight bites, including two quality carp over the 25lb mark along with a great average size throughout his catch. Accurate casting to clear spots and introducing a steady mix of pellet and corn proved to be the winning approach, keeping the fish visiting his spots and the bites coming regularly. Over on Kents Bank, Byron Talbot enjoyed a productive overnight session in Peg 3. Fishing over Fishery Spod Mix, Byron landed two cracking mirror carp weighing 23lb and 24lb. Both bites came from fish feeding confidently over the baited area, once again highlighting just how effective the Fishery Spod Mix has been in recent weeks. Kellet Lake has also continued to produce plenty of action, with several anglers reporting multiple bites and a good number of quality fish finding their way into the nets. The lake remains in great form, and with the current weather pattern looking ideal, we're expecting more big catches in the days ahead. With warm temperatures, low pressure and plenty of wind in the forecast, conditions are looking perfect for another busy week across all three lakes. If you're heading down, make sure you've got plenty of bait with you—the fish are clearly feeding hard and showing no signs of slowing down.
