Colder autumn weather has finally arrived at Clear Water Fisheries, bringing a real change to the feel of the season. Sunny, high-pressure days are creating bright, settled conditions across the fishery, while the nights and early mornings are now turning chilly. It’s a lovely time to be outdoors, with crisp autumn air and some beautiful days to enjoy by the water. The changing weather can make for a more varied day’s fishing, so take your time, keep an eye on conditions and be prepared to adjust your approach as the day goes on. With colder nights setting in, the fishery is moving further into its autumn rhythm, but there are still plenty of good reasons to get out and enjoy a session. If you’ve been thinking about booking a visit, now is a great time to do it. After the recent spell of more than 30 fish in just a few nights, the action at Kellet Lake has eased off somewhat. Conditions haven’t been quite as favourable, and the fish have been showing higher in the water, making the most of the last sunny spells before winter arrives. Despite the change in conditions, Boldy Paul and regular Mark enjoyed a productive few days on the lake. Between them they landed eight fish, including four 20-pounders—a great result as the season moves into its colder autumn phase. Both anglers kept their approach simple, presenting wafters over small amounts of Fishery Spodmix. Rather than putting in a large bed of bait, they introduced just enough to encourage a bite at a time. That measured approach has been producing consistently over the last few weeks, especially while the fish are on the move and spending more time higher in the water. As the weather continues to change, keeping an eye on where the fish are showing and being prepared to adjust your tactics could make all the difference. For now, introducing bait little and often seems to be the winning formula at Kellet Lake.
The w**d has died back substantially at Kendal Lake, opening up more of the water and revealing the lake’s natural features. With new areas and spots becoming more accessible, Kendal has been fishing well recently—and some excellent catches have followed. Attila Sebestyen enjoyed a memorable session, landing five fish. The standout was one of the lake’s big girls: a cracking mirror weighing 31lb 12oz. Attila also banked a superb 26lb fish among his other catches, rounding off a fantastic result. Louis Seefus and Jordan McGarry also made the most of their time on the lake, landing five fish between them. Four of their catches weighed over 20lb, with the best reaching 26lb—a great return for the pair.
