FISHERY UPDATE – WEEKLY NEWS
The lovely summer-like weather this week has certainly got the fish switched on, with plenty of action across all lakes. The carp have clearly started their big pre-spawn munch, with numerous anglers enjoying multiple captures and some cracking fish hitting the bank. There’s still no sign of spawning just yet, but with the warmer temperatures forecast this coming week, we can’t be too far away now. As always, we’ll keep everyone updated with any spawning news and potential lake closures if needed, so keep an eye on the page for updates. For now, the fish are feeding hard and making the most of the conditions — a perfect time to get out on the bank!
The pleasure and match lakes have been in fantastic form this week, with The Scrape and Leighton both fishing their nuts off. Just about every angler has been getting amongst the action, with multiple fish hits coming regularly throughout the day. Plenty of quality carp have been showing along with some proper big tench, keeping nets busy and anglers smiling. Kirkby has also kicked back into life over the weekend, producing several hits of carp and looking very lively once again. Fish are prolifically showing all over the lake and giving plenty of signs that they’re actively feeding, so it’s well worth keeping mobile and watching the water.
The action has continued across Kents Bank, Kellet and Kendal this week, with multiple fish hits coming from all three lakes including several of the bigger residents making an appearance. Over on Kents Bank, Hassan and Craig from Carp Capital Angling came over for a 24-hour session and absolutely tore the lake apart with a staggering 19 bites between them. Their haul included a couple of the lake’s bigger residents, including two upper-30lb commons. Arron Hirst also added to the tally with 3 fish to 25lb, while Remy Thompson enjoyed a top weekend session with 5 fish, the biggest being a lovely 24lb mirror. Kellet has also been producing consistently, with Dan Sneesby landing 4 cracking 20lb-plus fish during his session. Kev Bath from Ridgemonkey had an incredible 24 hours, banking 7 fish including several impressive carp over the 25lb mark. Not to be left behind, Kendal has been getting in on the action too, with Adam Bunting enjoying a productive session resulting in 5 fish, the biggest weighing in at 25lb and ounces. With the warm conditions continuing and the fish clearly feeding hard ahead of spawning, it’s a brilliant time to be on the bank.
