When people are already dealing with financial stress, even small barriers online can make it harder to ask for help.

For some people, that might mean:
• struggling to read large blocks of text
• needing translation support
• finding forms overwhelming
• preferring content read aloud
• needing colour or font adjustments
• experiencing speech, language or communication difficulties

That’s why we partnered with Recite Me to make our platform more accessible and flexible for different needs.

Accessibility isn’t about creating a “perfect” experience overnight.

It’s about making support easier to access for more people, step by step.

Loan sharks often pretend to be friendly, helpful, or someone you can trust. They may contact people online, through social media, or through word of mouth. But their goal is always the same - to take control through fear, pressure and intimidation.

At IE Hub, we see this in how people use our platform. Screen readers, translation tools and reading aids are used by thousands of people who benefit from different ways of interacting with information.

Because when systems are designed with different needs in mind, more people can access support and manage their finances with confidence.

Talking about debt can feel uncomfortable.
For many people, it also comes with shame or embarrassment.

But, financial struggles are far more common than many people realise.

From responses shared by 576 IE Hub users:

• 64% struggled for at least a year before seeking support
• 36% waited years or until creditors told them to ask for help

When we asked why people delayed reaching out, many said things like:

“I buried my head in the sand.”
“It’s too stressful to think about my money issues.”
“So many other things to sort out in general life.”

Debt often sits alongside stress, life pressures and feeling overwhelmed.

If you’re struggling financially, you are not the only one.
And taking the first step can make a real difference.
