Meet our new CEO, Carl 👋🏼

Carl began his career in logistics at just 18, starting out with a haulage company before joining the Stobart Group.

Beginning as Transport Manager, Carl went on to hold a number of senior roles throughout his career, ultimately becoming CEO. But his entrepreneurial journey didn’t stop there.

In 2013, Carl founded Logistics People, growing the business from £0 to £150m in turnover and building a workforce of more than 6,000 people, before eventually selling the business.

Since then, Carl has built and been involved in multiple businesses across different sectors, including hospitality, bringing a wealth of entrepreneurial and leadership experience to his role as CEO of The APC.

Away from business, you’ll usually find him spending time with family and walking his dog 🐶

A career built on ambition, opportunity and hard work which will continue with Carl’s next chapter at The APC. 💙

Meet Grace, a Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprentice at APC Lincoln.

Grace joined the team five months ago after deciding that university wasn’t the right path for her.

Since then, she’s gained valuable hands on experience and developed a strong understanding of what great customer service looks like - an invaluable skill in the industry.

Grace’s story is a reminder that university isn’t the only route to exciting career opportunities.

Dave, Chief Operating Officer at The APC, enjoyed welcoming the WS Media team to The APC Hub in Cannock and giving them a behind the scenes look at what happens once parcels arrive - from sorting to getting them back on the road 📦

And there’s plenty more excitement ahead! We’re making some fantastic changes at The APC National Sortation Centre, creating a more seamless process while transforming the hub into an even warmer, more welcoming environment for our colleagues to enjoy.

Meet Laura, one of the Directors at HEC, based in Castleford and a proud member of The APC.

Laura joined the HEC team 22 years ago, initially assisting with general administrative tasks. Over the years, she progressed to become Office Manager before being approached by the company’s Directors and offered the opportunity to become a Shareholding Director - a role she has proudly held for the past 10 years.

Since Laura first joined HEC, the company has come a long way. What started with just two drivers and handwritten manifests has grown into the successful operation it is today.

However, HEC has also faced its fair share of challenges. One of the most difficult moments came when the team received a call no one would ever want to receive - the office block was on fire.
Thankfully, thanks to the incredible work of the fire brigade, the fire was brought under control and the building itself was saved. For the following eight months, the HEC team operated from portakabins in the yard while the office was restored.

Reflecting on the experience, Laura said: “Head Office were fantastic with the support they gave us.”

It’s moments like these that highlight the resilience of the HEC team and the people behind the business who have helped it grow over the years. 💙

Meet Scott, Sales Executive at Xtra Express in Northampton! 👋🏼

Scott is responsible for developing business across Northamptonshire and helping local businesses find the right solutions for their parcel deliveries.

He joined Xtra Express 3½ years ago as a Route Planner, before progressing to a Class 1 Driver and, 13 months ago, moving into his current role as Sales Executive.

Scott says it’s been great to learn more about The APC and the world of parcel delivery. Having never worked with parcels before joining Xtra Express, he’s enjoyed gaining new experience and developing his knowledge along the way.

We’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for Scott! 🚚

The APC took on Wryley Juniors FC to raise money for Promise Dreams, bringing everyone together for a great afternoon of football and fundraising.
