TAKEAWAYS FROM OUR RECENT SPRING WEEK & SUMMER INTERNSHIP ADVISORY PANEL-

1) Ask intelligent and thoughtful questions - ones that show you have an interest beyond surface level, often the most lasting way to make an impression

2) Do your research and networking before starting your Spring or Summer; work towards building on it between days in the evening and have conversations with your prospective team before the internship

3) When it comes to applications, two things count - apply ASAP and be strategic with regards to conversion rates, steps in the application process (hirevues vs phone interviews) and programme structure (rotational vs non-rotational)

4) Show up with 3-4 RELEVANT headlines (Markets or A&WM) or recent deals (for IB or PE) that will help your team / show your ability to add value starting at the most basic level; brush up your technical knowledge in the lead up to your Spring & definitely your Summer

5) Speak to seniors or other people that have done the specific programme you are doing and find people who have the career path you are looking to have

6) Follow-up with people you met from the firm at the Spring (especially if they only fast-track you) or those that interviewed you for the Summer; show gratitude to HR as well!

7) Make sure your CV is up to date with the latest experiences & skills you’ve developed and free of any errors (especially before an interview or AC, where you should take copies to)

8) Ask people what their roles are like and what their day-to-day looks like. Learn about your division as quickly as you can and visualise yourself in their roles. Sometimes you may not feel you fit in to a firm or role - that’s okay there is no shortage of options out there!

Comment below or DM us to follow-up/ ask any other questions!
