To help raise donations for charities struggling during the pandemic, mobile phone trader and recycler Envirofone has launched EnviroCharity, which enables customers to trade in their old devices and donate some or all of the value to a partnered charity of their choice.

EnviroCharity has launched the scheme with three partnered charities: RECLAIM, Dementia Adventure and The Proud Trust, and is also calling for more charities to join them. Charities of any size are invited to get in touch directly.

To donate, Envirofone customers simply choose the ‘donate to charity’ option at the checkout, select which charity out of those partnered they want to donate to along with the proportion of the value they wish to donate. Donations can range from the minimum value of 5% up to the full value of their device.

UNICEF’s International Council, a collective of over 70 individual philanthropic partners committed to improving children’s lives, have penned an open letter urging other philanthropists to join them in supporting UNICEF’s work with COVAX.

In the letter, the Council members highlight that everyone has a vested interest in ensuring the Covid-19 vaccines are shared rapidly and equitably worldwide, and that philanthropists like themselves are uniquely placed to respond, and to help UNICEF close funding gaps and accelerate rollout.

UNICEF is the key delivery partner of the COVAX facility and is aiming to help deliver at least two billion vaccine doses by the end of 2021 in more than 180 countries. However, it needs an estimated US$659 million this year to help it do so, according to the letter – a gap that private funding could help fill.

Charities and companies which help rehabilitate offenders have been awarded around £200 million of Government funding to help cut crime in the new probation system.

An initial £195 million investment has been awarded to 26 organisations across England and Wales to provide vital support services that help reduce reoffending, such as employment and housing advice.

This includes over £45 million awarded to services tailored to female offenders to address their specific needs and the underlying causes of their crimes as part of the Government’s pledge to see fewer women go to prison.

The total funding awarded could rise to £270 million if contracts with these organisations are extended to their full terms.

Strategic consultancy I.G Advisors, along with sister company Lightful, Unbound Philanthropy and other leaders in the racial justice sector are seeking nonprofits doing work with communities of colour in the UK to fill in a survey on their experiences of digital fundraising and race.

The survey is to help build a better understanding of how these organisations currently use digital for fundraising, and the challenges faced when fundraising online, and in communicating their work to audiences.

The responses will help in the development and sharing of a number of new resources, including reports, a podcast, and potentially a tailored digital training programme. With this, I.G Advisors and its partners in the project hope to influence how funders approach supporting these organisations, as well as advocate for more useful guidance and training on how they can succeed online.

The survey can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/3ynstFm
