So, 20 years ago, having been made redundant; together with my business partner Russell (RIP Russ), I started Neptune'.
In the wake of "9/11" (which I had spent painting the skirting boards in our soon to open office) it sure was an interesting time to be kicking off a new business in financial services and yet here we are twenty years down the line, still helping all our lovely clients to make and manage their money.
Thank you to everyone - colleagues, clients and family - who have been along for the ride. It's been (and continues to be) a pleasure.
And an especially BIG thankyou to Alison, who stepped in to "help out", when Russell died, in 2004 and 17 years later was still here putting up with me. You'd get a shorter sentence for murder! 😉

The chancellor has delivered his first Autumn Budget. This focussed heavily on the wider economic position for the country, with a number of positive initiatives targeted at the housing market. There were no significant changes that affect mainstream investments or pensions.
