Running a business on your own has plenty of upsides, but there are downsides too. When something doesn’t go to plan, it can be pretty painful financially, and you just have to take it on the chin and carry on.

This year, I tried something new and ordered prints on an eco friendly paper made from 100% agricultural waste that would otherwise have been burnt, instead of our regular recycled paper.

The paper was darker than I expected. The prints still look great. I just know people like the familiarity of the originals. A bit like when Opal Fruits became Starburst… I know some people still haven’t quite got over that one!

So, rather than let them go to waste (which would rather defeat the point), I’ve added them to the website for just £5 each.

Perfect for adding to your notebooks, or as a thoughtful little stocking filler that’s kinder to the planet.

A lesson learned, and a little eco friendly bargain for you.

Meet Rachel Gale, the illustrator of our lunar calendars (and Minnie 🐶)

In 2019 I sent Rachel this scrappy little design and asked her if she could transform it into something more professional looking ✨

It’s very much a collaborative process, and she has been so patient with my many tweaks of the design. I love seeing her work and seeing the finished product come to life. The illustrations are so beautiful 💖

This was the first calendar design, for 2020. What a year that ended up being 🫣
Thankfully the calendars were a huge success 🌕

Since then, more calendars have been added, with new illustrations. I love them all 🐺🍄🧜🏾‍♀️

This year Rachel has worked on a new design, as well as updating all of other designs, which has been very exciting! 💫

A trio of cosmic wonders 🌞✨🌑

Mark your diaries, 12 August 2026.
You are invited to an unforgettable night of cosmic wonder.

On that date, three extraordinary celestial events come together. A solar eclipse, the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and a new moon darkens the stage for both.

A Solar Eclipse

For a few minutes, the Moon will pass fully in front of the sun. The UK will witness a dramatic partial eclipse as the Moon slides across the face of the Sun, reducing it to a brilliant crescent. As daylight fades, temperatures may dip slightly and the landscape will take on an eerie glow as the light changes. Make sure you do not look directly at the sun, unless you are wearing proper eclipse glasses.

The Perseids

Often considered the most spectacular meteor shower of the year, the Perseids are famous for their fast, bright meteors, many of which leave glowing trails as they streak across the sky. They peak the same night, running into the early hours of the 13th, and this year they’ll do so under a completely dark sky, with nothing to wash out the fainter ones. It will be one of the best years to watch them in decades. The next time the timing lines up this perfectly may not be until 2045.

A New Moon

With no moonlight in the sky, the stars, the meteors, even the faint wash of the Milky Way get to shine as brightly as they possibly can. It’s also what makes the eclipse possible: the Sun, Moon and Earth briefly in a perfect line.
