Our very own Suzanne represented us at the fabulous Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce International Women's Day 2026 event, hosted at Sheppy's Cider Ltd.

Suzanne said: "When I attended the 2025 International Women's Day event , the speakers and panel were inspirational and it reminded me of the ambitious "girl" I used to be and the whole day reawakened the business woman in me. I was three weeks off 60 but decided to step back into office life and returned to work full time in September. I knew then that I wanted to say thank you to the chamber and every one of those dynamic women who were in that room that day and by sponsoring the 2026 IWD was an excellent way to do just that."

When we describe her as "The Real Boss", we aren't joking, she is the powerhouse behind us, or as she once put it (quite perfectly), the conductor, to the organ grinder, to the monkey.

So from us as a family and a business too, thank you Suzanne!

A fabulous evening of collaboration with other local businesses, including our clients at Posh-Recycled.

This is what being an independent business and part of the Bridgwater Town Team is all about, helping each other and knowledge sharing.

In the words of Roger from Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce, said many many times last night, "You don't know what you don't know!"

We've talked at many a town meeting about how many hats we need to wear as small business owners ...
- we're shop keepers
- we're buyers
- we're customer service representatives
- we're social media gurus ...

That last one is the scariest of all as not all of us are technically brilliant. Facebook, Instagram, website connectivity etc etc can be a real challenge. So how lovely is it that some of the team stepped up and helped other members that feel less confident. The training was led by Ruddle Digital and Boring Business, and we are incredibly grateful for the work they do with the town team and the Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce.

This evening's Building Better Businesses In Bridgwater session gave practical advice for real business issues. They provided a truly supportive environment to learn how to better manage social media duties for a small business.

We can't get much stronger than learning from one another and we started close to home to show the power of what we have around us.

The first week in the new, revitalised Bridgwater Town Team page, and it was wonderful to see so many local businesses getting involved, including some of our clients in The Crafty Collective & Vintage Traders at GPR Bridgwater!

Lets be clear, shopping habits have changed, and that's ok! But for those special moments, nothing beats visiting a local, independent business like some of the ones below.

There have been a few keyboard warriors at play to add negative comments under our posts. However, from these the most brilliant thing has happened whereby our followers stepped up to the plate to add their own positive experiences.

We hope that this continues so that together we can truly prove and that to is always the finest way to shop.

As a local, family run business, we are committed to making our town a better place to be, and that means attending these monthly meetings with many of our lovely clients.

People believe that Bridgwater Town Team is Bridgwater Town Council, but actually its local people, running your local shops who are trying to make a difference, and the council are very much there to help and support what we want to do. Anybody who thinks they work against local retailers, it couldn't be further from the truth.
