Back to it after the holidays...

A well needed reset after the interest rate madness, some lovely family time… getting thrown around a rollercoaster at max speed🤯 and a gorgeous meal at Fratelliwyke for my nephews 18th🥰

Where has this month gone😳

It’s a stressful time for brokers all over the UK at the moment…

Rates moving, products being pulled, constant changes — and understandably, a lot of clients feeling unsure about what it all means for them.

If you’re feeling a bit anxious about your mortgage, you’re definitely not alone 🤍

Behind the scenes, it’s been a really busy making sure clients are looked after, options are explored properly, and nothing is rushed just because of headlines.

More lenders have revised their mortgage product ranges, as they continue to adjust to uncertainty caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

This week really brought it home for me why protection matters.

One of my very first clients got in touch after her partner was taken seriously ill. He’s since been diagnosed with cancer.
Because of existing medical conditions, we’d had to arrange separate policies for them — and I’ll be honest, in that moment I was panicking… questioning myself… had I definitely put everything in place properly? Was he fully protected?

Thankfully, he had taken the policy.

I look at household budgets every single day.

We budget for what we’re forced to — utilities, council tax, mortgage payments.

Then come the “everyday” things:
Mobile contracts — some now £70–£80 a month
Phone insurance
Car insurance
Wi-Fi
TV packages
Gadget cover

All budgeted for without question.

Yet when it comes to protecting the one thing that makes all of this possible — our ability to earn, to provide, to keep life ticking — it suddenly feels taboo.
We don’t budget for it.
We put it off.
We tell ourselves “it won’t happen to me” or “I’ve not had a day off sick in 10 years".

Until one day… it does.

Had he not taken cover when he did, arranging protection after a cancer diagnosis would have been incredibly difficult — with exclusions on the very thing you’d actually be worried about.

Insurance isn’t about expecting the worst.
It’s about making sure money isn’t an added worry at the worst possible time.

Sending so much love to my client and her partner — and feeling incredibly grateful that this was one less thing they had to worry about.
