I was asked a question over the weekend, is it ''immoral not to repay your mortgage''. In the world of finance is that question even relevant I mean was it immoral the Government bailed out the banking system then imposed 10 years of austerity on the country, or HSBC money laundering billions of dollars for the Mexican drug cartels resulting in the deaths of 10,000 poor Mexicans. Answers on a post card please. Now back to the legalities of how we buy a property. I don't know if you know this, but banks do not lend or take deposits, not my opinion but a point of law. So if banks don't lend money where does the money come from? Well it is created into existence once they are in receipt of your loan agreement which in law a promissory note and is shown on the lenders accounts as a credit which enables the creation of a debit the money hey presto the books balance. So, if my promissory note created the money then am I not borrowing from myself, and all the bank did was use one of their computers to make the money.
