The FCA (the folks who regulate mortgages) are looking at a few changes that could help more people:
✔️ Lenders may get more flexibility on how much they can lend relative to income
✔️ Rental payment history could start counting towards proving you can afford a mortgage — handy for first-time buyers and self-employed folk
✔️ New thinking on interest-only and later-life mortgages
✔️ A look at equity release, including whether 55 is still the right minimum age

🏡 House prices — what's really happening?

Growth has slowed down a fair bit lately. Nationwide's figures show annual growth down to 1.8% (it was 2.2% the month before), and Zoopla's showing an even softer 1.3%, with fewer sales going through than this time last year.

It's not doom and gloom, more the market taking a breather. If you're buying, it could mean a bit more room to negotiate. If you're selling, pricing it sensibly from the start really does make a difference at the moment.
