At Dandelion Farewells, we believe a funeral should honour the true purpose it holds, marking a significant passage in life, acknowledging the reality of death, and creating space for grief to be recognised, held and supported.

We’re so pleased to be featured in the first printed edition of Sussex Exclusive, alongside other stories from across our county. You may already know them from social media or through their website, sussexexclusive.com

In the article, Judith shares how her training as a social worker first led her to explore the funeral sector, and how her own experiences of death, grief and funerals shaped the creation of Dandelion Farewells.

It’s a deeply personal reflection on why it matters to have somewhere people can come, be listened to, and feel supported when they are facing one of life’s hardest moments.

Thank you to Lucy Pitts and Dee Blick, co-editors-in-chief of Sussex Exclusive for including us in this first printed edition. And a big thank you to for the beautiful photography.

We’d love you to read the full article on sussexexclusive.com and follow Dandelion Farewells for more conversations about funerals, grief, choice and care.

Open conversations about end-of-life wishes can make such a difference, both for the people at the heart of them and for those supporting them.

Zabia from Marie Curie UK shares how hearing Judith speak at Coffin Club with The Brigitte Trust - Helping People Live Well Beyond Diagnosis offered valuable insight and answered many of the questions that can arise around funerals and planning ahead.

Here we go!… just spotted another favourite location… popping-in to see if any new characters have arrived!
These props are for our community talk ‘My Wishes, My Way’ ~ we begin with thinking about all the life moments/decisions that we plan for and how most of us love a considered, researched plan: ‘lining-up your ducks’ ~ but have you put any thoughts into choices/details that would be important to you for your funeral, your farewell?
Add your ideas or hobbies/interests in the comments below and we’ll find a themed duck just for you!

Judith was absolutely thrilled to be invited as a guest on the Plant Hunter Guy Podcast, The Root of it All. Series 2, episode 1.

In this thoughtful and uplifting episode, Judith joins Guy to talk about her route into funeral directing, the story behind Dandelion Farewells, and the importance of offering families genuine choice, compassion and support at one of life’s most difficult times.

Their conversation explores how the funeral sector is changing, what it means to run an independent funeral business, and why talking openly about grief, remembrance and mortality can help us all appreciate life more deeply.

At a coffee shop in Fulham, London ~ I’m drawn to it because of its name (I’m just after a good cuppa, but the sandwich looks tempting!)
~ and while sitting with my tea brewing, I’m pondering the word & name choice of this independent shop: ‘honesty’
I love that ethos for their brand: good products ethically sourced; a transparent company.
Single words convey so much of the intention and ethos of a company.
Here’s some that are embedded within Dandelion Farewells:
* personal *transparent *trustworthy *connected *confidential *ethical *professional * sensitive *qualified *attentive *kind

“Wrap me in… a shroud.”

Another thoughtful wish shared by Luna at our recent My Wishes, My Way event.

This speaks to one of the key messages at the heart of My Wishes, My Way — that funeral choices can be both practical and deeply personal. For some, the idea of being wrapped in a shroud feels simple, natural and comforting.

Our free workshop helps people explore the wide range of options available, offering clear, honest and jargon-free information so they can better understand what is possible and what feels right for them.

By encouraging open conversation, My Wishes, My Way helps individuals and families feel more informed, more reassured and more able to create a farewell that reflects personal values and wishes.

When invited recently by a local nursing home to be available for conversations about funeral options, these are the resources we shared.
The Good Funeral Guide CIC produces excellent information and these leaflets feel the most transparent and clear. In addition, completely independent of any slant or persuasion, so genuinely focused on individual choice.
(No daytime tv advertising; no freebie giveaways; no sign-up to financial plans.)

Westlake House Care Home - Barchester Healthcare asked Dandelion Farewells to join them for the afternoon, having (anonymously) attended our ‘My Wishes, My Way’ community session back in May. We were checked-out for providing good information, presented well, with no sales or bias.

Ask them how they found us; ask us to facilitate meaningful conversations for funeral choices, for all settings.
And visit https://goodfuneralguide.co.uk/ for more resources.
