Believe me, if you have savings you do NOT want to see it disappear in a matter of months because you're sick.

We hear this one a lot. And honestly, it's one of the biggest misconceptions about income protection.

Here's the reality: The state provisions alone are usually not enough to cover the costs of everyday life. Maximum ESA is £92.05 and that's only for those eligible. Bear in mind any income, savings and private pension can affect this amount.

Think about your monthly bills. Your mortgage or rent. . Your groceries. Your kids' activities. Can you really live on £92 a week?

Don't be foolish and rely on someone else to have the plan B for the what ifs. Many of our clients say losing their income is the one thing that keeps them awake at night.

Here's the thing: Income protection is where you can protect your income by having a policy that will pay out if you're sick or injured. This policy will typically pay out up to 60% of your pre tax income.
