🎨 1,875 posters. 29 primary schools. So much creativity!

Judging for our annual Firework Safety Poster Competition was well underway this morning, and our judges certainly had a difficult decision ahead of them.

Children aged from 4 to 11 years-old had created some fantastic posters (making good use of the glitter pots), each helping to spread an important message about staying safe around fireworks.

A HUGE thank you to our judges: the Society's CEO Richard Ingle and Marketing Manager Tiffany Hardie-Albutt, Rotary Club of Bath President Chris Davies, Deputy Mayor of Bath Cllr Onkar Saini, Avon Fire & Rescue Service Jacq Hardwick and Mel Wilkinson.

As part of this years UK Savings Week, our partner, WizeUp Financial Education visited Three Ways School in Bath to deliver an engaging financial education session.

Through a fun, interactive activity, students took control of their own money decisions. They decided on how much to spend in the shop and how much to put aside for the future.

By learning through real-life scenarios, students developed their understanding of money management and the importance of making informed financial choices.

Because it’s never too early to build good money habits! 🌟

Did you know there's a secret courtyard area at the back of our Wood Street Branch? It's currently used as a tree nursery by More Trees for Bath and north east Somerset, planting crab apple and oak tree saplings from seeds collected locally by MoreTrees volunteers. Once grown the saplings are used in planting projects in local community areas to improve our public spaces.

This week colleagues volunteered to roll their sleeves up to clear out the area to make way for more saplings later this year and it's already looking much better. Thanks team! 🌳 🍃

💷 £1,250 has been awarded to Boys in Mind 🥊

Boys in Mind work in partnership with young people and professionals to promote mental and physical wellbeing and prevent su***de, particularly among boys and young men.

Despite much work to challenge the stigma around mental health, many boys and young men are still unwilling to open up about their struggles and get help.

The funding received from our Community Awards will help the charity continue to run the boxing in mind project at two local secondary schools, with plans to expand the project to a third school.

Every year, our Community Awards help turn our commitment into action, with 2% of the Society's profits invested back into the local community.

We love seeing our colleagues get stuck in and make a difference 💙

Our Client Relationship Manager, Suzzanne Dempster, recently spent the day volunteering for our Charity Partner, Alongside at their shop in Bradford on Avon. It's amazing what an extra pair of hands can achieve.

Each colleague is offered two dedicated volunteering days each year, providing an opportunity for skill development, personal growth and the chance to give back, helping us to live up to our commitment to the community.

🎆2026 Firework Safety poster competition🎆

For 55 years, school children in Bath have been taking part in the Rotary Club of Bath Fireworks Safety poster competition, sponsored by Bath Building Society. If you went to school locally, you might remember entering the competition yourself!

The aim of the poster design is to communicate the dangers of fireworks and bonfires to school children. Posters will be judged on the safety message and artistic merit.

Bath Building Society will award a Junior Saver Account voucher to the 1st (£25), 2nd (£15) and 3rd (£10) placed poster winners in each category, along with a Bath Building Society goody bag and an art set from The Rotary Club.

We are so excited to see the designs this year! Stay tuned to find out who our 2026 winner will be✨
