A government-backed 95% LTV mortgage guarantee scheme has been launched, intended to help first-time buyers or current homeowners secure a mortgage with a 5% deposit.

First announced in Rishi Sunak’s Budget last month, the scheme allows purchases up to £600,000.

It's now available from lenders such as Lloyds, Santander, Barclays, HSBC and NatWest with Virgin Money to follow in May.

Like previous schemes, there are limitations, so for many, a conventional product could be a better option. We can decipher those options for you and quickly tell you the best way forward.
