Rates have climbed throughout this year, as the Bank of England put up interest rates to fight inflation, but they rocketed upwards following the mini-Budget.

Rates have stabilised since the Autumn Statement, experts say.

Fresh data provided by Moneyfacts reveals that the average five-year fixed mortgage rate has dropped for the first time in seven weeks.

The Bank of England has raised interest rates again.

This time the rate has increased from 1.75% to 2.25%, meaning that borrowing costs are at their highest level since 2008.

The Bank of England Base Rate has increased today from 0.75% to 1%.

This will increase variable mortgage costs by approximately £11 a month per £100,000 mortgage.

New data from Legal & General Mortgage Club shows that there are home owners looking to re mortgage to beat interest rate rises.

With the Bank of England lifting the rate 3 times in 4 months, the rise in living costs coming in this month, along with energy bills rising; home owners are looking to reduce their monthly mortgage payments.

The majority of lenders have an offer period of 6 months. Those borrowers who are coming to the end of their fixed rate deal within the next 6 months, could certainly take advantage of securing these low rate deals. The deal would be secured until they came out of their fixed rate period.
