Concerned that your savings interest rate just took a nose dive! There is another, inflation busting, economy beating and you already know it! Property is the greatest asset on the planet and the demand for it is increasing, hence the government is promising to build more houses in the next few years than we have managed to build in the last 10 years!!
Will they pull it off? Well the planning system is in disarray, Land Registry is a year behind in logging the sales of properties, materials are sky high and quality tradesmen are in short supply.

There is a great opportunity ahead to make your savings work harder, either hands free investing, portfolio building, mentoring advice or joint ventures on specific projects.

Leasehold versus Freehold. Always best to check the remaining term and ensure its not below 100 years, plus determine what the annual ground rent is. The leasehold/freehold reform act 2024 may have been passed by the last the government but its not complete yet. So weigh up the risk, personally I would steer clear of short term leaseholds or fight for a much better asking price.

Always, list the issues, tot up the cost of rectifications and challenge the asking price with that!

Another day, another viewing! Tidy property near Barnsley with good garage, great back patio, EV charging point, big bathroom & big kitchen diner. Just the 2 bedrooms though, cannot see how to add another without a 2 floor extension. Maybe doesnt tick the box of being able to add value to it. Carry on looking for the next opportunity.

The Monetary Policy Committee voted by a majority of 7-2 to maintain bank rate at 5.25% yesterday.

Last time 8-1 voted for a hold - this time it was 7-2.

Meanwhile, annual inflation is expected to have fallen from March’s 3.2% reading to somewhere close to the government’s 2% target in April. It will add to the pressure on the Bank to relax its policy stance.

A rate cut is likely to happen in the next meeting in June.
