The stamp duty threshold for first time buyers in England and Northern Ireland was reduced to £300,000 on 1st April 2025

💡 0% on the first £300,000 (of the property costs £500,000 or less)
🗝️ 5% on the portion between £300,001 and £500,000
🖊️ No first time buyer relief on properties over £500,000

For example, if your purchasing a home for £450,000, you’d pay 5% on the £150,000 above the £300,000 threshold, resulting in stamp duty bill of £7,500
