Farm Resilience Programme-
The first Farm Resilience workshop of the season took place on May 6th at The Cowshed Café, bringing together a strong group of local farmers from across the Peak District. The session created a positive atmosphere, with good engagement, open discussion, and a clear appetite for understanding the current challenges facing farm businesses.
The focus of the evening was on market trends and the factors influencing price fluctuations across key agricultural sectors.
Farmers explored:
How global and national market forces shape farmgate prices, The impact of supply and demand cycles, Seasonal and long term price patterns and how to interpret market signals to support better business decisions
The discussion helped participants build confidence in understanding why prices move as they do, and how this knowledge can support planning, budgeting, and resilience.
It was a productive and encouraging start to the programme. The session set a positive tone for the upcoming workshops, with farmers expressing interest in continuing to build their understanding of business resilience and market awareness.
A big thank you to all who attended, please stay tuned for the next workshop date announcement.
