Communication is the key to securing you the right insurance policy at the right price.

Do you know there is a difference between the value of your home and the cost of rebuilding it? Are you confident you know the full cost of rebuilding, if you need to make a claim?

What some people don't realise is that the cost to rebuild your home will include any demolition, site clearance and professional fees, including architects and surveyors, as well as the materials and labour. We look at this in detail with our clients to ensure they remain adequately covered, and this can be complex for listed and unusual homes.

With home contents insurance, if you have high value items, it is important to make you aware that your insurance should cover the value of replacing items, and not based on what you paid for them. Receipts and proof of ownership are very important, but high value items such as watches, jewellery, and antiques should be professionally valued, and this should be regularly reviewed. If you buy or sell any items, don't wait for your renewal to make updates to your policy; tell your broker or insurer immediately.

Please don't find yourself in a position where you are underinsured. It can result in claims being denied or claim payments being reduced.
