What is the best investment you can make?

Any ideas??

The answer is.....Your Education!

There is a core truth behind the saying ‘every day is a school day’

Wherever you are on life’s journey you can always benefit from more knowledge, to help ‘sharpen your tools or make you more employable’ but it is how you turn this 'knowledge capital' into money in the bank that is the key.

The application of new knowledge is what can help you to prosper.

For instance, Job Promotion could multiply your investment return on the cost of acquiring new skills and there in turn more money can be put aside for your future!

As they say, From Small Acorns do Big Oak trees Grow.

Guess what's missing….

These figures are NOT the goal, the goal is to have enough money to live your best life!

Some will look at this chart as a challenge, I can live on that, in particular the ‘MINIMUM’!

I would encourage you to turn it round, take some time to think about what your best life looks like and from there, you can work out the cost and how far away you really are.

So, have you worked out what should be in the missing column yet? Yes, your number!

Why bother paying for a financial adviser…

Instead, you could just:
✔️ Set up the perfect pension and investment strategy — because who doesn’t love deciphering tax wrappers in their spare time?
✔️ Research the world’s top performing fund managers — ideally between school runs, meetings, and trying to eat lunch before 4pm.
✔️ Monitor those managers continually — after all, who needs Netflix when you have quarterly fund reports?
✔️ Stay up to date with the global economic & political landscape — just a light bit of reading on inflation, geopolitics, interest-rate cycles, and the occasional election.
✔️ Rebalance and re-engineer your portfolio regularly — because your portfolio definitely sends polite reminders when it drifts.
✔️ Build and review detailed cashflow models — the perfect Friday night activity.
✔️ Be your own sounding board when markets get turbulent — and ignore that tiny voice saying “SELL EVERYTHING” at exactly the wrong time.
✔️ Structure your income tax efficiently in retirement — with tax rules that never change. (Except when they do. Often.)
✔️ Plan for inheritance tax — simple really… if you enjoy trusts, gifting rules, and flowcharts.
✔️ Prepare for long term care — both financially and emotionally, preferably without crying into a spreadsheet.
…all while working, running a business, raising a family, running a household, and trying to enjoy some resemblance of a life.
But hey — who needs a financial adviser?

Champagne Lifestyle on Lemonade Wages?

Are you picturing a luxurious lifestyle in retirement but worried you might be on a limited budget?

One of the main questions I get from clients is 'do I have enough?'

This is a simple question but not necessarily easy to answer....

What we really need to know is ‘how much do I need?’.

Once we have the answer to this, we can start to put a plan in place to give you the confidence of knowing that you have enough!

So, are you ready to start planning for your future?

Do you have one of these…?

Interestingly, most people would dig it up because they would think it is a w**d!

Most of us certainly wish we did have a money tree, but I would suggest you start to think of your pension as your very own money tree.

If you take the time to feed, nurture and look after it, the roots will grow strong and you will enjoy the fruits from its branches in the future.

So start growing your own beautiful money tree today!

So you think you are getting a good return?

With so much cash on deposit, most people are not allocating sufficient assets to risk and just as importantly to tax planning vehicles that can save you tax!

Less tax = more money (simples!)

So by investing in the right assets and the right tax vehicles you can potentially get a return greater than inflation. Not only does this mean your money holds its value but may also help you not to have to work so hard and for so long! 🧐

Time to wake up?

"One day I woke up and discovered that I was the same age as old people!"

Spoken by a chap that was seeking inheritance tax advice and realised he had left it too late.

What have you left too late?

Saving for the day you finish work?
Children’s house deposit?
The list can go on...

Let’s be fair the people who do exceptionally well are only a very small percentage so don't feel bad, and if you’re familiar with the story of the tortoise and the hare then your time may well come!

To become financially independent it is all about a state of mind

If your real dreams can align with your ability to provide for those dreams, then you may be lot nearer to independence than you think.

Building a financial plan that is yours and sustains your hearts desire can start from just one sheet of paper and a cup of coffee…
So, why not give it ago.

Knowledge is power...

And with knowledge you can make a better future for you and your loved ones, but time is the obstacle, life just gets in the way.

Are you making the most of your money or just parking your hard earned money in cash!

In a recent Scottish Friendly survey, the results showed why people held cash.

The top reasons cited were quick access to money (39%), fear of losses (38%) and distrust of markets (34%).

And The study revealed notable demographic splits...

• Baby Boomers were the most cautious: 56% hold all their wealth in cash, compared with 44% of Gen X, 25% of Millennials and 21% of Gen Z.
• Distrust of markets was strongest among Boomers (40%), compared with just 23% of Gen Z.
• Fear of losses was more pronounced among women (44% vs 33% of men), while men were slightly more likely to cite distrust of markets (35% vs 33% of women).
• Millennials were the most likely to invest some money but still keep most in cash (18%).

A substitute to knowledge is to use an expert, find one that understands YOU and can explain to you effectively, giving you enough understanding to feel comfortable with how your money is being invested.
