Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital help to people living with cancer and their families, offering practical, emotional and financial support when it’s needed most. 💚

Love baking? Bring along a cake to share and the team will take care of the tea and coffee. Whether you arrive with your signature showstopper or simply come along to enjoy a cuppa, a slice of cake and some friendly company, everyone is very welcome.

The kettle’s on and Cuppa & Company is back!

The friendly Cuppa & Company community mornings are returning to Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall this autumn, starting TOMORROW: Tuesday 8th September, from 10am–12pm.

Everyone is welcome to pop along and enjoy a hot drink and biscuits, have a game of table tennis, challenge someone to a board game or simply sit down for a friendly chat.

People can bring a friend or come along on their own and meet some new faces. There’s no need to book and it’s completely free – just drop in and enjoy the morning.

The team is looking forward to opening the doors again and welcoming familiar faces and newcomers alike.

The now famous Sizewell C coin hoard wasn’t the only remarkable discovery made by archaeologists at Broom Walk, Sizewell!

Excavations by Cotswold Archaeology have revealed evidence stretching back thousands of years, offering a fascinating glimpse into the people who once lived and worked in this part of Suffolk.

Long before the coin hoard was hidden, the site was home to a temporary Beaker camp dating from around 2200–1900 BC. Archaeologists uncovered hollows believed to have formed the bases of tent-like structures — particularly exciting because discoveries connected with the everyday lives of Beaker communities are less commonly found than evidence of their burial practices.

Beautiful examples of Beaker pottery were also discovered, with around 30% of the pottery decorated using fingernail and fingertip impressions.

And the story doesn’t stop there! Archaeologists also uncovered evidence of substantial Anglo-Saxon buildings, including one impressive structure measuring around 21 metres long.

From prehistoric communities to Anglo-Saxon buildings and the now-famous coin hoard, Broom Walk is revealing an incredible story of human activity spanning thousands of years.

One week today - next Saturday, more than 400 runners will take on an incredible journey along the Suffolk coast for the 5th edition of the Runaway Racing Suffolk Coastal Path 50K!

What started with just 80 runners in its first year has grown into a fantastic sell-out event, with 400 participants preparing to take on the biggest race yet.

Saturday 12th September 2026, starting in Lowestoft, runners will head south along the beautiful Suffolk coastal trail, passing through Southwold and Dunwich before making their way towards an exciting seafront finish in Aldeburgh.

🔥 Following the devastating fires at Dunwich Heath, the route has been amended to divert around the affected area. Runners should make sure they have downloaded the latest route information.

The race and waiting list are now completely full — but everyone can still get involved by coming out and supporting the runners along the route!

If you’re in Aldeburgh, why not head towards the Moot Hall and the final stretch to give the runners a huge Suffolk welcome as they approach the finish?

Pebble has landed in Aldeburgh and is already busy discovering all the wonderful places, familiar favourites and hidden gems that make the town so special!

Every weekend, this inquisitive little seagull will be heading off on a brand-new Aldeburgh adventure. There’ll be exploring, sightseeing and, knowing Pebble, probably a little bit of mischief along the way!

But there’s a challenge for everyone following along…

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR SUFFOLK COMMUNITY PROJECTS – APPLY NOW!

Local community groups and organisations are being encouraged to apply for two National Landscape funding opportunities, with grants of around £3,000 per application available.

Applications close Wednesday 9th September 2026, so there’s still time to get an application in!

Galloper Wind Farm Fund: Supporting eligible projects within the fund area around Sizewell.

Amenity & Accessibility Fund: Supporting eligible projects within the designated East Suffolk fund area.

Funding can support sustainable community projects delivering environmental, social and economic benefits, with previously funded activities including:
🐦 Wildlife and conservation projects
🏛️ Community heritage initiatives
🌱 Species conservation
♿ Accessible paths and mobility projects
🌳 Outdoor education and school wildlife areas

A fascinating new multi-disciplinary arts exhibition is coming to The Long Shop Museum in Leiston, bringing together artists, writers, poets, photographers and performers as part of the two-year Edge Land project.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 5th September to Sunday 1st November, beginning with a special FREE opening event on Saturday 5th September, 2–5pm, where visitors can meet some of the creatives involved.

There’s also a great programme of workshops to enjoy:

✍️ Writing From The Edge – 17th October | £6

With more than 30 shops and retail centres across the region, there are a variety of volunteering opportunities available. No previous experience is needed and full training is provided.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new people, become part of a friendly team and gain valuable retail, till and customer service experience – all while supporting an incredibly important local charity.
