Where can I invest my money for short term or Long term?
We have different platforms with safer pools but with a guided returns not like the ponzi scheme we have around.
MONEY MARKET FUNDS are like mutual funds run by financial institutions and government to pull funds for investment purposes for a short period. For example a treasury bill is for 90days and then you get paid back.
So how do I invest, in treasury bills,
1. Easier routes is with a broker. A broker is like the intermediary between the users of your money and you. Get a licenced broker and ask for treasury bills investment.
You can invest in Government or (corporate) companies bond.
A bond is a debt instrument used by government or companies to raise money from you and I. if these companyβs don't want to borrow from bank or sell shares. Bond investment duration can be 2years, 5years bond, 10 years bond or 30 years bond. And every quarter, the government keeps paying you a dividend of your capital and after the investment period, you get back your capital.
For Nigerian for example government bond is sold by the government (debt mgt corporation) to raise money to build roads and school etc. It has a more guarantee that you will be paid back interest and capital because government can easily tax its citizens unlike private where it can has to do business to generate revenue, in corporate bond you can be paid more especially high yield bond, but make sure the company has a good debt rating by the rating agency.
