Summer Delights ☀️

Discover how the AXA Marthon team enjoys the summer time, from gourmet markets to village festivals.

The summer holidays are well under way. We all enjoy doing different things during the summer time, whether it’s heading to the beach, visiting a music festival or simply taking time out to relax. So, we caught up with the AXA Marthon team to ask them about their plans for the rest of the summer.

Sampling tasty local produce from a food or farmer’s markets is Karine’s choice:
“These evenings are very convivial, and you can buy local products (meat, fruit, cakes, honey, etc.) on site. Barbecues are also available for cooking our food. There is also a refreshment bar, a chip shop, and music, usually from a local band. It's very rural and very friendly. Recently I went to the gourmet market near my village on Saturday evening in Sireuil on the banks of the Charente. It was really festive, enjoyable and a great way to spend a summer’s evening.”

Music and markets are a popular combination throughout France, so it’s no surprise that Virginie is a fan too, as she explains:

“During my holidays, I enjoy attending village festivals with joyful celebrations and music, sometimes accompanied by costume dances. At the markets, the stalls are overflowing with local products, inviting young and old alike to stroll around and sample the flavours of the region.”

Visiting a summer festival in the local villages and towns is Florent’s preference, a welcome break from running a busy insurance agency:

“I really enjoy the festivals organised by the villages in our region. I particularly appreciate the local feel and the simple, warm atmosphere that emerges. Unlike large festivals, where the crowds are often too big, these more modest events allow you to forge links and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. It's always a pleasure to take part and discover what each village has to offer.”
