The workshop in was perfect for creating things for the chalet. In one shot I am making a curtain pelmet for the living room/library space. The moulding was salvaged from the attic of the old Residence Mont Blanc next door and was covered in soot! I used old wooden moulding planes to finish detailing on the pelmet...more peaceful than using a router!!
In the other shot I am cutting fretwork for a bookcase with a vintage keyhole saw..

Argentiere...known as a winter mecca worldwide for skiers is also a very special place to be between seasons when it becomes just a peaceful mountain village in a fabulous setting.

The eaves of the dining room, like the living room/library features some bardage (or wood cladding) that was first sawn into planks over 100 yrs ago
and was carefully restored and re-used...

Spring has arrived in Chalet Chardonnet garden. I found these flowering while tidying the flower beds...

this room which was once a hayloft used to be accessed by a ladder from the goat shed below...
. It is clad with timbers that date back a hundred years and panelling from the old Hotel Richemond in Chamonix when it was gutted back in the '90s.
The floorboards are original re-laid from the old hayloft.
