We’re excited to welcome Akseli Paavola as one of the newest owners of Liquido.vc.

Akseli leads private equity investments at Master Yhtiöt. He has extensive experience in M&A and in financing startups and SMEs across multiple industries. So, if your topic is funding or growth strategy, Akseli has solid hands-on experience to share.

But here’s the thing: Akseli is not just a finance guy.

Akseli describes himself as a hands-on generalist. 🛠️ Through his M&A career, he has worked with companies across industries, building a broad understanding of different business models and what success looks like in practice. He was also a partner in building an M&A boutique firm from scratch and later exited, gaining firsthand experience of building and scaling a business.

If someone has seen the startup world from more than one angle, it’s Mikko Kärkkäinen. And today, he’s also one of Liquido’s owners.

Who is Mikko? 👨‍🍳⚙️💻
Mikko’s career path hasn’t followed a straight line. He started out as a trained chef, spent time in the international restaurant scene, and later made a deliberate move into business and technology.

Since then, he has helped build and scale technology companies across deep tech and SaaS. Many know him from the early days of Canatu or from Oura, where he helped build finance and operations during a phase of rapid global growth. His work has consistently focused on the intersection of technology, growth, and hard decisions.

Today, Mikko works as CFO at Freska Group, focusing on profitability and supporting the company through its current growth phase.

Mikko supports startups as they scale by bringing clarity to finance and operations, especially when growth needs to be aligned with sustainable profitability. He is also always happy to provide peeks ahead of the curve for founders in their early days.

Meet Our “Global Mikko” – our international growth builder 🤝

Mikko Marsio, also one of the owners of Liquido.vc, is a person whose career would honestly be easier to describe by listing what he hasn’t done. 😄

Over the years, Mikko has been involved in many international growth stories. People often know him from roles at Fortum, HP and ABB, among many other companies, where he helped build global markets, commercialize new solutions, and open doors across regions.

Europe, Asia, North America and South America – basically Mikko’s home turf. 🌏💪

Today, Mikko works on either interim or permanent assignments in various international commercialization roles and sits on a couple of company boards. In short: supporting interesting companies on their growth journeys is something he truly enjoys.

Where can Mikko help you level up?
His entire career has focused on building international growth and networks that enable companies to scale.He’s also experienced in clarifying value propositions and turning customer benefits into crystal clear messages and go-to-market actions and strategies.

How did Mikko join Liquido.vc?
“More than 15 years ago, I had just moved back to Finland from Asia when Jussi Muurikainen called and asked me to advise his startup. Helping others is natural for me, so of course I said yes. 😊 Years later, Jussi reached out again and told me about Liquido.vc. I was immediately interested. Now I’m happy to be part of a team that supports companies in a very focused way.”

Mikko’s tips to startuppers:
“Trust yourself and understand what you are really good at. No one else can define that for you. When you combine this with action and solid business thinking, results will follow.”

“And one more thing: people still talk a lot about what a startup does, but not enough about what the customer gets. Let’s keep this in mind!”

Can there ever be too many Jussis? We don’t think so. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the newest Jussi at our owners’ table: Jussi Liimatainen 👋

Jussi is an experienced business developer and serial entrepreneur with a diverse background across sales, marketing, tech and the startup world. He has been involved in many pioneering projects, for example, in the early days of internet era, building Finland’s first online newspaper, Kauppalehti Online. He has also taken part in international M&A projects, founded several companies, and helped build and grow startup teams.

Coming from an entrepreneurial family, Jussi has carried a strong entrepreneurial mindset and passion for business development throughout his career. Today, he is the CEO of Vipu, known as one of the first HubSpot partners in the Nordics.

We love helping founders and teams by showing what’s possible with a truly coachable mindset. Super-Site and CEO Dini Mäntylä are a perfect example! 🙌

What does Super-Site do?
They’re building a service that enables truly personalized marketing on websites by taking into account each visitor’s journey from the first touchpoint all the way to conversion. In other words, next-level personalization and targeting – powered by AI. Pilot results have been very promising, and the full MVP launch is coming in early 2026. All this is being built by a five-person team that recently closed a funding round with Gorilla Capital, following an earlier pre-seed.

Leading the charge is CEO Dini, who brings a strong background in growth hacking, marketing, sales and web technologies. The idea came from a car dealership analogy:
"When a family, a single guy, or even the local mayor walks into a shop, the salesperson instantly adjusts the pitch to fit them. Why shouldn’t websites do the same?"

Liquido’s journey with Super-Site began about a year ago, when Dini asked us to help polishing a pitch deck before Slush. Our Jussi Muurikainen stepped in – and after working for a while together, it was clear that both the idea and the team had real potential. That’s when we knew we wanted Super-Site into our portfolio.

Since then, Liquido’s support for Super-Site has meant more than just a successful funding round. It has included sparring, opening doors, and through our network they’ve found advisors, investors – and even a co-founder.

As Jussi puts it:
“At Liquido, we’re looking for the right kind of founders, the coachable ones who can turn feedback into action. Dini and Super-Site are great examples of that.”

New shoes to fill at Liquido.vc 👟 – and Mikko Kiertonen is just the right fit as our new CEO!

Mikko isn’t a stranger to our community. He has already been coaching our portfolio companies as an advisor – and it quickly became clear he brings both value and energy to the table.That’s why we’re so excited to see him take on the CEO role starting September 1.

In Mikko’s own words:
“What first attracted me to Liquido – and still does – is the chance to give back what I received early in my journey: support, sparring, and networks. It’s also inspiring to work with people who are top-notch in their fields, while still being able to add value myself.

Going forward, I want to sharpen our processes and streamline the way we work, so we can support even more promising startups.”

Meanwhile, Jonas Lundberg, who has successfully led Liquido until now, will continue as the Chair of the Board and remain closely involved with our portfolio companies. This transition is about strengthening the team and sharpening our focus.

“This is all about leveling up. With Mikko as CEO and me continuing as Chair, our team can sharpen focus on what we each do best. I have full confidence that these adjustments improve our capabilities.”

Some introductions just can’t wait until after the summer break… We’re thrilled to announce that Aslak de Silva has joined Liquido.vc as one of our owners!

🤺 Get to know Aslak
Aslak’s journey almost led him to a career in martial arts (yep, up until the age of 27 that was the plan!) – but lucky for us, he pivoted to leadership and growth!

Aslak knows what it takes to grow companies and take them global. You might know him as the former CEO of Nordic Business Forum, or Naava, or from his work with Kasvu Open. Along the way, he’s also invested in around ten startups and sparred countless founders. Today, he’s CEO of Selfly Store.

But wait, there’s more! You might’ve seen Aslak on stage as a keynote speaker or heard his Black Belt in Leadership podcast (add it to your playlist!). And yep – there’s also a book on the way. 😄
