Women are well represented in academia and are driving groundbreaking discoveries across various fields. However, making your research really impact the society may require a spin-out. And most of the academic spin-out companies are founded by male teams. Why is this?

Innovestor, in collaboration with Helsinki Innovation Services Ltd and key partners Tesi and Maki.vc, invites female scientists and students to the “Future Female Founders” event to debunk myths about entrepreneurship and an academic career, and to help connect female researchers with like-minded entrepreneurs.

We're excited to announce our investment in Clair Scientific, a Danish startup developing a completely new type of microscope based on novel imaging technology and cloud computing!

“Clair Scientific’s patented technology brings the quality and capabilities of the best optical microscopes at a fraction of their cost to the end users whether in laboratories, research institutions or industry. It also brings in new features in visualization and data collection. This combination creates a huge commercial potential – the reason why Innovestor is keen to team up with the Clair Scientific team”, says Petri Laine, Partner at Innovestor.

The €1.6 million (DKK 12 million) pre-seed round, led by the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) with support from Innovestor, will enable the company to expand its team, accelerate product development and expand its market reach, ensuring that life science research is not only cutting-edge but also budget-friendly.

We're thrilled to announce that our Angel CoFund has invested in ConfidentialMind - a generative AI software startup making software for companies and governments to create and deploy generative AI applications in their own data centers.

The €1.5M pre-seed funding round was led by Failup Ventures with participation from the Angel CoFund , Founders' Edge, and top industry angel investors from Europe.

ConfidentialMind will use the new funding to accelerate its growth by expanding its sales, marketing, and engineering teams. The funding will also allow the company to expand to major markets in Europe and offer enterprises and governments a new way to run cost-efficient open-source AI models on top of their proprietary data.

Innovestor's Energy Storage initiative has received REPowerEU financial support for green energy transition investments from TEM, Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö – Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (Finland).

This endorsement marks an important milestone in our path toward advancing distributed energy storage solutions in Finland. The REPowerEU support was awarded to only three applicants, and Innovestor's Energy Storage initiative (Dessco Investors Oy) accounted for app. 14% of the total amount.

💬 "We are delighted to see TEM backing our project. With the support of TEM and private investors, we continue to scale up operations. Next, the first batteries and solar panels will be ordered and installed at selected sites. We also plan to expand discussions with new investors in the autumn, " comments Wilhelm Lindholm, CEO of Innovestor.

This initiative aligns with our belief in the rapid growth of behind-the-meter energy storage solutions in Finland, driven by rising flexibility needs, high energy prices, declining technology costs, and increasingly sophisticated optimization of flexible assets.

We are currently looking to recruit an Analyst to join our team!

This role is perfect for those passionate about transforming science based innovations into thriving commercial ventures.

In your role, you will:

- Conduct analyses of scientific articles and patent literature to uncover potential solutions for unmet medical needs.
- Identify and evaluate companies that align with our investment strategy, involving both desktop research and in-person engagements with key stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, including researchers, university tech transfer offices, incubators, biotech firms, and other financiers.
- Organize meetings with the stakeholders mentioned above.
- Contribute to the fund’s operational and developmental activities, such as data management, deal flow evaluation, and reporting, utilizing tools and processes you will learn on the job.
