If one were to pay attention and truly see, the cultural diversity and culinary delights of the nations of the world can be mind bogglingly diverse and beautiful. From spicy Indian curries to savory Italian pasta, aromatic Ethiopian injera and mouthwatering French pastries, the practices of our little planet never fail to amaze. This feast for the senses is precicely why, every year, in our own corner of the world that is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the DSGE comes together to organize a truly worthwhile event that showcases said cultural practices and mouthwatering delights of the nations of the world. To be held on the 18th of NOV at 10:00 am, this highly anticipated charity gathering takes place at the UNECA compound and brings together embassies, international organizations, and local vendors to create a vibrant, inviting and fruitful, yet charitable experience for all those who choose to attend. And attend we must since this ,once a year, diplomatic charity bazzar serves as a unique platform for peoples to represent their countries and share their rich cultural heritage.
Ambassadors, diplomats and embassy staff from across the world will actively participate in the event. Aside from setting up booths to display and/or sell products and culturaly significant items from their respective countries, each embassy will also showcase their traditional dishes in order to offer the gathering of guests a chance at savoring authentic flavors and experiencing unique culinary traditions. This ofcourse includes Ethiopia's own booth which will be yet another colorful addition to the already vibrant cultural atmosphere. Be it Ethiopian jewelery, mementos, a taste of the nations spices or its ancient fabrics, you name it, it will be there. Therefore, visitors to this event have the opportunity to embark on a cultural journey by exploring a wide array of international cuisines and customs all within arm's reach.
In the spirit of sharing among people, there is a major aspect of this event that must not go with out mention. Charity. It is the, DSGE Diplomatic CHARITY Bazaar after all and beyond the celebration of food and culture, this annual event aims to raise money to be donated to over thirty two charitable programs supporting various community development projects across Ethiopia. Some of these projects like Drop of water, Mesgana Child, Make your mark, Vision for Ethiopia, Cure, Food secured schools Africa and many more education programs, healthcare services, infrastructure development, and other similar initiatives aim at improving the lives of underprivileged communities across the nation. The Diplomatic Spouses group Ethiopia (DSGE) is an informal association of spouses of diplomats who share a passion about their host country and wish to offer more to the community.
They organize events on a 100% voluntary basis, and take pride in channeling all the funds raised towards Ethiopia's well-run NGOs and social entreprises.
The annual diplomatic bazaar is the major event organized by the group.
All profits are managed by "Project Matrix", a sub-group of DSGE that reviews projects and allocates money to the NGOs and social entreprises that really make a difference for the most vulnerable in Ethiopia.
Don't hesitate to ask us for more details, we are more happy to share!
