Vacancy Announcement: Senior Internal Auditor

Abacus Consultants and Trading PLC is a leading Ethiopian consultancy firm specializing in finance, tax, HR, outsourcing, and management advisory services.

As part of our expanding outsourced internal audit services, we are seeking a qualified Senior Internal Auditor to be assigned at one of our client’s premises in Addis Ababa.

Position Summary:

The Senior Internal Auditor will be deployed at a client organization to independently execute internal audit activities, assess risk and control systems, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the client’s internal governance and process improvement efforts. The role requires professionalism, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct internal audits based on risk-based audit plans.
Assess internal controls, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
Ensure client compliance with Ethiopian laws and internal policies.
Prepare and present clear audit reports and follow up on corrective actions.
Serve as a liaison between Abacus and the client.
Share best practices and support client capacity-building where applicable.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus).
Certification: CIA Certification or related is an advantage.
4–6 years of relevant internal / external audit experience.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, Ethiopian tax law, Ethiopian commercial code & control frameworks.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting/audit systems.
Excellent communication in English and Amharic.

Employment Terms:

Contract: One-year contract, renewable based on extension of project agreement and performance.
