On November 22, we brought together amazing DOT alumni from Addis, Bahirdar, Hawassa, and Mekelle for our first DOTYouth Ethiopia Alumni Meet-Up!

The energy was powerful — reconnecting with old friends, remembering our DOT moments, and seeing how far everyone has grown in their journeys. Truly inspiring! ✨

During the meet-up we:

Our 24 DOT Ethiopia Climate Champions have been leading change in their communities through Participatory Action Research (PAR), putting into practice the skills they gained from Training of Trainers.

Together with their communities, they identified environmental challenges, uncovered root causes, and co-created practical solutions: from tree planting and restoring water cycles, to door-to-door mobilization and raising awareness on landslides.

What inspired us most was not only the visible impact, but the moment communities recognized their own power to create change. As Climate Champion Amanuel Desta reflected: “I’ve learned that real change starts when communities take ownership of solving their own environmental challenges. Every action, no matter how small, can inspire others to protect our planet.”

For the past three months, our Young Climate Champions in Arbaminch have been on an incredible journey of learning and action through the CISCO Climate Awareness Project. Guided by the Participatory Action Research (PAR) process, they worked closely with communities to tackle climate challenges head-on.

Today, they gathered for their final session — a day filled with reflection, storytelling, celebration, and inspiration. 🙌
