“...
At a historical moment when certain discriminatory policies and ideologies, with strong claims to an embarrassing past, are re-emerging around the world, a virus appears that makes us experience that, in a close of eyes, we can become the discriminated, those who are not allowed to cross the border, those who transmit diseases. Still having no fault, even though it is white, Western and with all kinds of economic luxuries at our fingertips.
In a society that is based on productivity and consumption, in which we all run 14 hours a day chasing it is not very well known what, without rest, without pause, suddenly a forced stop is imposed on us. Quiet, at home, day after day. To count the hours of a time to which we have lost value, if it is not measured in retribution of some kind or in money. Do we still know how to use our time without a specific purpose?..
In a social phase in which thinking about oneself has become the norm, this virus sends us a clear message: the only way out of this is to make pineapple, to bring up in us the feeling of help to one's neighbour, of belonging to a collective, of being part of something greater about what to be responsible and that this in turn takes responsibility for us. Co-responsibility: feeling that your actions depend on the fate of those around you, and that you depend on them.
Let's stop looking for culprits or wonder why this happened, and start thinking about what we can learn from all of it. We all have a lot to reflect on and strive for. With the universe and its laws it seems that humanity is already quite indebted and that it is coming to us to explain this epidemic, at an expensive price.” (Cit. F. MORELLI) .
