Yesterday at the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) Business Forum during Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), Manuel Garcia Calvo, Business Development Director for the Middle East and Asia at Almar Water Solutions, joined industry leaders to discuss one of the key challenges facing water reuse worldwide: how to make circular water infrastructure bankable and scalable.
During the session on financing and scaling water reuse, Manuel highlighted that the main barrier is no longer technology. Proven solutions already exist. The challenge lies in creating the conditions that allow private capital to invest with confidence, including clear demand, long-term offtake commitments, and balanced risk allocation between public and private stakeholders.
As demand for resilient water supplies continues to grow, water reuse must be treated as strategic infrastructure rather than a niche solution. Unlocking investment will be essential to accelerating adoption and building more secure and sustainable water systems worldwide.
Thank you to International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA), Singapore Water Association (SWA) and Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) for bringing together global leaders to advance the conversation on the future of water.
