Due to the increasing number of fake news and, in to order to keep our customers well informed, please find below some information which might be of interest:
MOTOR POLICIES:
The motor insurance policy DOES NOT EXCLUDE cover in case of accident during the Official Lockdown, since driving on public roads have not been banned. However, drivers might be aware of the current limitations to travel and, in case of travelling by car without a duly justified reason, they might be fined by police.
MOTOR: Any vehicle registered in Spain is obliged to have a valid insurance policy in force, unless the vehicle had been declared as SORN and this is also applicable to UK registered vehicles. Please, make customers aware that, according to the current legislation, the owner of a vehicle which does not have a minimum Third Party cover policy in place might incur in penalties, between 601€ and 3.005€. Hence, upon the policy renewal date and mainly for those customers who might be reluctant to pay their renewal premium, please let’s behave in a responsible and professional way, making them fully aware that any policy cancellation is automatically reported to the DGS (Spanish Central Insurance Office) and DVLA (for UK vehicles) and the traffic authorities have direct access to this information. For such reason, customers should be aware that they might receive a fine.
COMMERCIAL LINES:
The Consequential Losses or Loss of Profit guaranty in commercial lines policies (business, enterprises, etc) does not apply in case of pandemic, since this type of guaranty applies in case of claims covered by the insurance policy, that is, in case of water damages, fire, theft, etc. Since Official Lockdown is not included as a guaranty in these policies, this guaranty does not apply. Neither are these damages/losses covered by the Spanish Consorcio de Seguros since pandemic is not classified as an Extraordinary Phenomena. Cover provided by the Consorcio is applicable in case of Acts of God, damages caused by terrorism, rebellion, uprising, etc and those caused by the Army or Police in times of peace.
