🇪🇸🚗 DRIVING IN LANZAROTE? NEW ROAD RULES ARE COMING
If you drive, ride a motorcycle or use an electric scooter in Lanzarote, changes to Spain’s road regulations are coming into force from 1st October 2026.
🏍️ Motorcycles
New requirements include closed footwear, with additional protective equipment requirements being introduced.
🛴 Electric scooters (VMPs)
Riders must be at least 15 years old, wear a helmet and use reflective clothing at night or when visibility is poor.
🚑 Emergency vehicles
New rules clarify how drivers should create an emergency corridor when traffic is stationary or moving slowly, helping emergency services get through safely.
🚐 Motorhomes and campervans
Updated regulations provide greater clarity around parking and how these vehicles are treated when correctly parked.
The changes apply throughout Spain, including Lanzarote, so it's worth familiarising yourself with the new rules before they take effect.
And while you're checking the rules, it's a good opportunity to make sure your car or motorcycle insurance still gives you the cover you need. 🚗🏍️
