Don’t forget the rules regarding the warning triangles are changing at the end of this year. If you want to avoid fines and ensure your safety on the road you will need to replace them with an approved V-16 hazard warning device. Although V-16 emergency beacons are already available for purchase, not all models are approved or have DGT connectivity. Additionally, approved V-16 lights are for warning traffic that you have broken down and location sharing with the DGT, they must not include any additional functions. I have given a link below to the DGT approved list of V-16 devices.
If you breakdown you activate the V-16 device and put it on the roof of your car WITHOUT EXITING THE VEHICLE. Once activated an approved V-16 device emits an intermittent orange flashing light and connects to the DGT 3.0 traffic system.
Please remember that the device is battery operated so ensure that the batteries have sufficient power either by regularly replacing the batteries or if it is rechargable that you regularly recharge it.
From 1st January 2026 you will no longer permitted to use the warning triangles
