IMPORTANT TAX CHANGES IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY FROM 1 JUNE 2026

If you're planning to buy, sell, inherit, or receive property as a gift in the Valencian Community, there are important tax changes coming into effect that you should know about.

Property Purchase Tax (ITP) • General rate set at 9% • Properties valued above €1,000,000 will be taxed at 11% • Authorities will continue to monitor and combine related purchases to prevent artificial splitting of transactions.

Stamp Duty (AJD) • The general rate is reduced from 1.5% to 1.4% • Applies to certain notarial deeds such as new build declarations, horizontal divisions, property consolidations, and more.

Inheritance & Gift Tax (ISD) • 99% tax reduction for transfers between parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, and spouses. • Family members in the second and third degree will benefit from increasing reductions over the next years. • Donations of money must be properly documented and justified through a public deed to benefit from the reductions.

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR PROPERTY OWNERS & INVESTORS IN SPAIN
The Spanish Supreme Court has annulled the obligation for tourist rental owners to obtain the new national registration number that was planned for short-term rentals.

This means that the additional STATE registration requirement is no longer mandatory.

HOWEVER – this does NOT mean tourist rentals are now unrestricted.

Property owners must still comply with:

Regional regulations (Autonomous Communities)
Tourist licences were required.
Urban planning rules / compatibility certificates
Municipal regulations
Community statutes and restrictions where applicable

For investors in the Costa Blanca and Valencia region, this is an important development as one layer of bureaucracy disappears, but regional and local rules still remain key.

Spain’s property market continues to evolve, and staying informed is more important than ever.

We do hope that soon, will have again less burocracy, annulled by the Supreme Court by common sense.
