🌍 What about visiting family and friends from other countries?

Whether your visitors are from the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands or elsewhere, they may be covered to drive your Spanish registered car.

With many Generali policies, additional drivers must:

✅ Be over 25 years old

✅ Have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years

✅ Hold a driving licence that is legally recognised in Spain

⚠️ Drivers from certain countries may require an International Driving Permit or additional documentation.

Always check with us before allowing someone else to drive your vehicle, as cover depends on your individual policy.

💧 Got a Leak in Your Property? Here’s What to Do

If you discover a water leak within your property, there are a few important steps to follow before making a claim through your home insurance.

Firstly, we recommend contacting a company that specialises in leak detection, as they have the correct equipment to locate the source of the leak and carry out or advise on the necessary repair.

Ask the company to take photos and provide you with a factura together with a brief written report in Spanish, explaining the cause of the leak and the work carried out.

Once the leak has been repaired and you have the necessary documentation, our Claims Team at Jennifer Cunningham Insurance can assist you with opening a claim with Generali.

Depending on the terms and cover of your policy, Generali may reimburse the eligible costs, minus the excess applicable to your policy.

🚰 Has the leak caused a higher than normal water bill?

You may also be able to claim for excess water consumption. You will need to provide the unusually high water bill together with your water bills from the previous two years for comparison.

🚗💥 Had a bump in Spain? Make sure you complete a DAA at the scene.

The DAA (European Accident Statement) records exactly what happened and provides the information your insurer needs to deal with your claim.

Both drivers should complete their sections, clearly mark the circumstances of the accident, draw a simple diagram and make sure both parties sign the form.

📸 It’s also a good idea to take photos of the vehicles, damage, number plates and the accident location.

Keep a DAA in your glove compartment, hopefully you’ll never need it, but you’ll be glad it’s there if you do!

⛽ FUEL PRICE RELIEF IN SPAIN THIS SEPTEMBER 🇪🇸

Some welcome news for motorists in Spain – changes to the fuel tax discounts come into effect from 1st September 2026.

🚗 Diesel: The tax reduction increases from 10 cents to 20 cents per litre.

⛽ Petrol: The reduction changes from 10 cents to 5 cents per litre.

The larger discount on diesel has been triggered after diesel prices rose by 15.7% year-on-year in July, activating the Government’s safeguard mechanism.

With fuel prices having risen considerably over the summer, the increased diesel reduction should offer some relief to drivers during September. 🚘

Remember – prices can still vary considerably between petrol stations, so it can pay to shop around!
