After a lovely week’s break, our team are back, refreshed and ready to get on with doing what we love! 🇪🇸☀️

There’s lots happening behind the scenes, with plenty of client journeys underway, and we’re looking forward to everything that’s ahead.

After 8 weeks of waiting, this wonderful family now have their passports back with their Non-Lucrative Visas inside! 👏🏽👏🏽

We genuinely love being part of these journeys, from the initial plans and paperwork to the moment everything becomes a reality.

We’re incredibly happy for them and wish them all the very best as they begin their new life in Spain, and of course, we’ll be right there to continue the journey with them. ❤️

🇬🇧➡️🇪🇸 MOVING FROM THE UK TO SPAIN 🛳️✈️🌍📦🏡

If you've got your Visa and are getting ready for the big move, here's a quick checklist of things to remember 👇

🇬🇧 BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE UK

✅Make arrangements for your new Spanish home and leaving your UK home
✅Tell HMRC you're leaving the UK / check your tax position both in the UK & Spain
✅Sort your UK bank accounts, pensions & regular payments
✅Make sure arrangements for your health cover are in place
✅Sort removals/storage/shipping
✅Arrange pet paperwork if bringing pets 🐕
✅Check vehicle/import requirements if bringing your car 🚗
✅Make digital & paper copies of all important documents
✅Keep your UK phone number if you need it for banking/security codes

🇪🇸 WHEN YOU ARRIVE
✅Celebrate your new home🎉
✅Get your Padrón (Empadronamiento) 🏠
✅Apply for your TIE card 🪪
✅Complete S1 registration
✅Open a Spanish bank account if needed
✅Sort electricity, water & internet
✅Get a Spanish SIM/mobile number
✅Register with your local health centre where applicable
✅Exchange your driving licence for a Spanish one
✅Sort Spanish car registration/insurance if applicable/ buy a car

💷 DON'T FORGET
🔹Keep records of your days in Spain
🔹Check your Spanish tax residency position
🔹Keep evidence of your income/finances
🔹Keep your TIE renewal dates in your calendar 📅
🔹Keep ALL your visa and residency paperwork somewhere safe

⭐ TOP TIP
Don't throw away your visa paperwork! Keep your financial evidence, insurance documents and other supporting paperwork together, you may need them again for your renewal.

We’re delighted to share that a life-saving defibrillator has now been installed outside our office in the heart of La Cala de Mijas. ❤️

The defibrillator has been funded by Lifestyle Spain, Ultimate Estates and Save A Life, with the aim of providing vital emergency support to the local community should someone suffer a cardiac emergency.

Having a defibrillator easily accessible in a central location can make a real difference in those critical first few minutes, and we’re incredibly proud to have been able to support this important initiative.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. It’s fantastic to see local businesses and the community coming together to support such a great initiative.

13th Defibrillator ❤️

The first defibrillator in Central La Cala is now installed! ❤️

This is our 13th installation, and we’re incredibly proud to have also assisted with a further 5 installations across the community.

This defibrillator is accessible 24/7, giving local residents, visitors and businesses vital access to lifesaving equipment when every second counts. 🚨❤️

A huge thank you to Ultimate Estates and Lifestyle Spain for their generous donation towards the cost of this defibrillator. Your support is helping us continue to put lifesaving equipment where it is needed most.

Every installation brings us one step closer to our goal of making Mijas a truly Cardio Protective Community. 💙

Our team in Spain will be taking a well deserved summer break from the 21st until the 31st August.🌴

🔹 The La Cala de Mijas and Elviria offices will be closed during this period.

La Cala de Mijas is getting ready for its biggest annual Community, Coffee & Cake Morning in aid of the fantastic Macmillan Cancer Support charity. 💚

📅 From 10am on Friday, 25th September at The Blarney, La Cala de Mijas, La Cala de Mijas

Come along for what promises to be a fantastic morning filled with fun, friendship, delicious homemade cakes and a fabulous raffle! 🍰☕🎟️

Most importantly, all proceeds will help local communities affected by cancer. Every donation and every bit of help can make a real difference. 💚

The second half of this year we are congratulating the first rounds of British Citizens reaching the 5 year anniversary on the NLV (Non Lucrative Visa), and celebrating the important milestone with those that have achieved their goal to becoming Long Term Residents in Spain. 🇪🇸🎉

The Initial ties for the Long Term Residency are issued for 5 years, and there after for those that are over 30 further renewals for the cards will be issued for 10 years.

Long Term Residency allows absences from the EU for up to 12 months consecutively, or multiple trips up to a total of 30 months in any 5 year rolling period. 😎

📆The next milestone for some will be after the next 5 years, when they reach a total of 10 years of residency it may be possible to apply for citizenship in Spain.

ℹ️To qualify for Long Term Residency on the NLV you can not be out of Spain for more than 10 months during the temporary residency of 5 years. (As well as maintaining the terms of the NLV)

We wish everyone who chooses to make Spain their home many happy days living here. It is a pleasure to be part of the dreams and goals of so many wonderful people that have chosen to make the move! 😊 🙌🏼

⚠️important info for anyone in the stages of applying for your initial Non Lucrative Visa in the UK.

Currently there are delays with obtaining criminal record checks / ACROS in the UK.

You need to allow at least 30 working days for processing, plus another 8 working days for delivery.

Speedy service of a few days is also now taking around 2 weeks.

This will have an impact that is uncontrollable on many timelines so please take this into consideration if starting or if already in the process of your application.
